It is the 1st time in ODA history after 4 years that ODA have taken long break (marked 115 days) from conducting hiking expedition.
The reason that ODA took a long break was few incidents happen after 2009 ODA Tahan trip, some of ODA was exhausted after gone through rapid Pre-Tahan training expedition,(6 mountain trips within 2 months); some ODA were admitted to hospital or being ill due to physical exhaustion and food poison - lots of criticism from parents/friends regarding to ODA; In the mean time, ODA is losing some committees due Tahan aftermath fears; ODA is having a serious car accident after Ledang trip; Two of ODA important characters are away for further study and work; ODA felt tired,Therefore, all ODA agreed to take a long break from conducting trip so that we can re-organize our private life, re-think on ODA pathway and re-charge.
Some of ODA close friends who knows ODA progress asked me, whether will ODA stop doing mountain trip after many major incidents happens? I was very confident to assure them that, ODA may take some times to re-charge, but they never let go of mountain climbing. I'm very happy to see each of the ODA able to put all the previous incidents behind, return to trip again and once again have done a **GREAT** trip under the great leadership lead by Fu Yaw and good teamwork of all ODAs!!!!
The 115 day off from ODA, I believe that each of ODA misses mountain very much and miss the moment on preparing trip, after cleaning as well as after trip feedback... haha... and i I'm very sure that all ODA was very very very looking forward on Irau trip. After received the over crowded registration update info from trip leader, ODA have to closed the registration earlier than dateline, my apology to ODA friends who was unable to register on Irau trip due to the over crowded incident. Irau friend who went to Irau before, know the peak's condition on the ideal number we can take for each Irau trip..... In fact, ODA was thinking to reduce some registered participants so that all of us will have more comfort space especially when sleeping at the peak, and closer supervision on each participant. But... who shall we reduce, it is a very tough decision. Therefore ODA decided, we will take all, if really the sleep area is unbearable, we will think of 2nd option.
As an outdoor activity enthusiast, we know that we can't expect to have 100% hygiene, sleep on flat ground, just nice temperature, no mid night snoring disturbance, warm rice/coffee, mountain collection, sea taste menu(山珍海味)..... when we're at somewhere that out of our control..... just adapt ourselves to the new environment...... see how far we can tolerate, what is our abilities not to be the normal "me"..... that's the main objective we want to torture ourselves by choosing to join outdoor activity. No matter how much we complaint, somehow we still need to get over the night, finish the muddy terrains, carry the heavy backpack, fill up our stomach.... why not treat ourselves better by make it a joyful trip, choose to be happy and take up whatever challenges that happen..... most importantly, we made it and we have finished the trip safe and we have added some adventurous and yet colorful experiences in our normal life. The dirty hand, leg, backpack, clothes or soar muscle..... we just make sure make it clean and rest well when we reach home.... this is the thing we can do for ourselves, treat ourselves good after accomplished a mission.
Irau trip - Is a blessed trip to all of us. We have very fine weather while lots of people saying we are crazy to climb Irau during the severe weather; we do not need to share Irau peak campground with other groups. I'm indeed thankful to each of the Irau trip member for having/bringing good intention joining the expedition and following the instruction given by trip leader. Million thanks to you all
To ODA close friends - Jai Wong, Chee Long, Simpson, Kenn, Henry, Pooi Kuan, and Chu Han - It's always good to see you all again.
My group member *Pui Yen, Pei Yee, Jason Yee, Chu Yao and Henry*.... Sorry for not joining you all for night supper, hiking and chit chat moment. ODA giving some tasks and need to be completed. I heard the desert taste very good. The morning breakfast, dinner and breakfast moments with you all were memorable. We manage to be the 1st group to get ready on last day at peak, although we've been always the last group to get ready in the 1st 2 days. But I still very happy to see we have good progress on last day. Keep in touch and hope we will be in same group again in future trip.
