My second time to Gunung Nuang

This is my second time to Gunung Nuang. There are some changes in Gunung Nuang. The entrance become prettier, the trail from entrance to Camp Lolo also better. Some new huts were built. The river still as cold as last time, but very enjoy. Think back for the first time when I walk from entrance to Lolo campsite, the feeling was like suffering. But this time, I am enjoying. Last time I also carrying this bag, but last time feel very heavy, but inside only put my personal item. Last time when I come, there is only us one group of people going. But his time, Nuang were crowded with people’s head.

Thanks Yee Jin for organize this trip. You have been put many hard work to make it done. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. And also thanks to Miing Rueng and Sian Seong accompany wait us and accompany us walk to Lolo campsite. Thanks to Lao Shi, Pang and all other committees, very happy to be with you all again. This time I didn’t go to the peak. But get to learn some new things too过去式,现在式和未来式. And also using stone to make our skin smoother.

Great to meet with ODA Senior, Yan Mun. When we walk back from Lolo campsite to entrance, we talk for a while. Learn a lot of things from her, especially her spirit. I remember the most is about the study. I pay money for every class, so I attend it. Thanks.

This trip let me think back of many things and let me think more of myself. Hope the next time when I come to Gunung Nuang, my situation will be better.

ODA,
Gambateh and good luck to everyone of you who will be exploring Gunung Tahan in coming month.
Once you have set up your target, never look back and just move toward the peak confidently.
No matter how bad the weather is,
No matter how heavy the bag is,
No matter how thirsty and hungry are you,
No matter how pain your body is,
No matter how big the rain is,
No matter how hot the sun is,
No matter how fat or how short you are,
No matter how scary those animals are, and
No matter how people look at you right now,
Throw off the fear, just think of target, and strike very best for it with your damn strong mentality.
Believe that, you can do it.
Once again, Good Luck to You,
and Come Back with Glory,
A Glory for Yourself and the Person who Love You.

Regards,
Kent, Yong Jien

mission accomplished!

mission: gunung nuang
aim: to hike the highest peak in selangor, gunung nuang
type of sports: hiking
altitude: 4000++ (forgotten)
status: completed
level of difficulty: quite hard
time: 2 days 1 night
conclusion:
i should be writing this one week earlier at this very moment.. but last week i was "into" the 篮球风.. busy watching the younger ones playing basketball.. andy, my group leader, msg me and reminded me to blog, but i really very busy.. paiseh har..

coming to nuang is a good experience and a slightly tough one too.. i agree that... i enjoyed the trip except for the crowd.. i mean too many people... we even have trouble finding a campsite.. =) now i know wat is climbing in a 90 degrees route.. freaking hard.. my leg is in great pain last monday.. cant even sleep soundly at night although i have a queen sized bed for myself ONLY.. and crap! have serious problem with the stairs...walking up/down the stairs can make me mad! (i dono if it feels exactly like wat the old folks feel when their leg is pain) but i doubt it would certainly have no big difference...

this mountain keep accending all the time.. sometimes i really "climb" the mountain!!! but, i did not regret to show up.. during the last hour, i can feel, smell the fresh and cool mist up there.. it reminds me of genting and cameron..until now, i can still remember clearly how happy i was.. no words, no perfect words can describe it.. that feeling of satisfaction is so strong..our body is warm, but the surrounding air is cool.. PERFECT COMBINATION!

thanks to those who had make this trip a success.. firstly, i wan to thank all oda committes.. wait, advisor first.. no lao shi, no oda ma.. lao shi, why don wan to accompany us go to peak? but anyway, good to see you again!!! yee jin, who was our group leader, had put so much of time and effort to make this trip a success.. but you suan you sheng too much lar.. pity him coz let u suan for 2 days.. andy, my group leader, he has improved a lot.. i think he did his first man task very well.. he had been a very caring group leader, even helped us to bring our equipment out from lolo campsite.. well done! and wan to thank pooi kuan too.. when i'm EL, yee jin say:" pooi kuan, talk something to erica lar, erica got things to talk wont feel so tired already de.." when she heard this, she was trying very hard to talk to me.. ask me this and that to keep me feel better.. chian nii, when she know we are having training in banting, she straight away call me and ask need tranport or any help or not.. she accompanied us for training once even if she's busy..and to the others.. nice to meet everyone of you again.. thanks for the mutton curry, ayam masak merah and the fried chicken you all have brought.. very delicious.. and thanks for doing the "behind the scene" job for us while we are having our bath... hope to join more trips with ODA! =)

Gunung Nuang Expedition 2009

Hi everyone!!!! First of all i would like to thanks Trip Leader Yee Jin for this wonderful trip. Although this is the first time you become a trip leader, you did a great job!!! So keep up the good work. Yee Jin sorry to you ya if i make you inconvenient to plan because of my time to rush back to KL on Sunday to catch the bus to Perhentian.
This is the second time i visit Gunung Nuang. The trail is as tough as last time...but this time the Lolo campsite until Camp Pacat is "People Mountain People Sea". Everywhere is people's campsite. Even on the halfway up to Camp Pacat there are people camping beside the trail. This trip i able to show my manliness again by chopping off wood. Next time have to push it to 2.5 by learning how to start a fire with wet woods. No point know howto chop but dont know how to start fire right??? The feeling of taking bath in the river at Lolo still as great as before. Syokkkkk!!! But kena peep..the reason we kena peep is because we nearly saw the girls when they change cloths..but normally people change cloth upstream and not downstream and out of sight..but they change ---> Beside the river and downstream lagi best they are just 10 steps away..... Haha.....
The trail up to the peak is tough. Rocky, and muddy in different parts. Some section are steep too. The funny thing is the muddy trail can make people dance. LOL if u know what i mean...
Lastly I enjoyed this trip like i enjoyed all the trips with ODA. Hope to see you guys in future trips..Yeah!!!!!!

Gunung Nuang Expedition

This was the first time I went Gunung Nuang. First of all, want say sorry to ejin, cause say OKIE, i can go when he asked me. Then, ask dad whether i can go CAMPING? He said : NOPE!! So, I sms jin again..told him that i cant join this trip. Aiks...sorry ya jin!! After that, because of lao shi's words "stories of her mountain climbing life" and reali beh tahan see all committee going, but i cant go. Aiks!! So, once again I decided to INFORM my mom that i will go camping!! Haha...my parents are quite angry with my "inform" and not asking permission. Haiz...although this time I didn't climb to peak on day 2, but still quite enjoy waiting them at the campsite coz learn some 人生大道理……过去式,现在式and未来式。haha...Gunung Nuang has quite many visitors that go for camping too.

After Nuang, we back to Kota Kemuning. I received my mom's call and kena scold badly for not INFORM her that i'm not back home that night. Aiks...felt so sad and sorry to my mom..make her so angry. After back from Kota Kemuning, Chian Ni terus fetch me to my office there. That day, had my breakfast alone at the mamak stall there. Suddenly, a lot of things click on my mind...how should i face my mom when back home?? How should i say "TAHAN" to my parents?? A lot of things and problems cant get a solution...make me energy low, low and low. Anyway, just tell myself..take it easy, make it simple...sure will have a solution there. That few days reali E.L, almost sleep around 10pm everyday. Haha...

At last, want to say thanks to our trip leader ejin for making his effort on this trip, committee members that contribute a lot and thanks for the participants as well.

Happy Earth Day

Hey guyz, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our mother earth Happy Birthday. For your information, today, which is 22-April is an official birthday for our mother earth started from 1970 in the States and has been celebrated since then by the whole world. This day was set to inspire awareness and appreciation for our environment. This is a day all the media around us working hard to promote environment awareness. Does it really helping?

Last weekend, I joined ODA to go to Gunung Nuang. It's a wonderful experience mainly because I could get closer with the nature and understand our Mother Earth better. How can we learn about Mother Earth when we were surrounded by concrete houses, buildings and cars?

I was really excited when I managed to reach the Peak, especially after hours of hiking on steep and slippery trails; plus, I couldn't wait to eat when I reached there. As the team and I found a spot where we could sit down to have our lunch, I was surprised to see somethings all around the place besides plants and trees. The somethings are RUBBISH, mostly food wrapping papers. I knew that weekend, Lolo Campsite was filled with people camping there. I thought that it was good to see people using their holidays to get closer to nature until I reached the Peak and seeing the rubbish. I guess people just got excited about reaching the top so they decided to leave something there as souvenir for Gunung Nuang. How generous!

I remember before reaching Lolo Campsite, there was a sign saying "Bring Back Nothing Except Memories and Pictures". I believe those who been there are obedient to this rule, which is good. Next time when I go there again, I hope to see another sign saying "Nuang Wants Only Memories of You Been Here, Not Your Rubbish".

It's good that ODA always remind us do not leave any rubbish behind and their green spirit sure to be a role model. I'm sure there are still people out there just like ODA, though might be in the minority. Hopefully more people would realize the importance in taking good care of the environment in this Earth Day and the rest of the days to come. Peace :)

2009 April 3rd G Bah Gading -Incomplete

Bah Gading:- Arif, Sham, Lan, Zubir, Anthony, Rosli, Bee Suan, Chian Nii and Siew Ting. It's a truly Malaysian Expedition as we have 3 different race in this trip.

I remember the night when we reached Tapah very very late, all members have gone; Lan told me:' tadi ingat nak beli daging, but then we remember that day at Zubir house, you and Ting tak makan sup daging, kan? So kita org tak beli." All ayam this time."

I feel bad when Lan told me that, cause i know somehow we have created some incovenient for them in meal plan. So i told Lan, "dekat luar, ada choice, so we choose not taking beef. But in hutan, kalau still pilih macam tu, susah la." Please, next time don't need to worry bout whether is daging ka, atau apa. Anything is fine." Very sorry."
Before we took off, Pang realized that her hiking shoes is same as mine at Yong Belar, that the hiking shoes started to smile with people behind us when we hike. Immediately Sham get the shoes sewing kits from Lan, and start sewing Pang's shoes. Then i remember, before Yong Belar trip, i did send my shoes to repair, but the guy told me "kasut terlalu keras, tak dapat jahit". But, Sham managed to sew Pang's shoes, and the sew area still as good as new even after the trip.

Bah Gading- We still not managed to reach the peak this time, and not even any closer to peak. I asked Bee Suan, Pang and Chian Nii....whether they feel unsatisfied/unhappy cause the Bah Gading mission failed!!!!
Their answer to me:" Not at all, cause they realized that meeting all the Tapah members, seeing the way they conduct outdoor trip, their attitude/spirit during uncertainty, the outdoor skills/knowledge they have, the sense of humor they have and the Tapah common undersyanding among each other, the 3 girls feel seeing it is even more benefit than reaching Peak of Bah Gading." Most importantly, the 3 girls learned lots of good values from the Tapah members!!!!!

During the 2 days trip with Tapah members, Bee Suan can't take her eyes of any of them, especially whenever they Tapah guys working on something. Bee Suan knows to take the chance to learn from them.

ODA girls, after seeing the Tapah members, they realized what is called as "overload backpack" The backpack loads that ODA guys carrying normally, is weight about 50% only. By the way, most of the Tapah members, they are around 40-50 years old. I still remember when we reached campsite, the Tapah members started to upload items from their backpack, all of our mouth can't close. We wonder why their backpack can stuffed so many items??? Then we think back, so many items, so heavy, but still move very fast, keep joking and laughing all the way!!!!! Beside that, off and on Zubir, Anthony and Sham will check on the 3 girls, "Ok tak?"

I am glad that Bee Suan, Chian Nii and Siew Ting participated the Bah Gading trip. It's truly an an opening trip for these 3 ODA girls. I am glad that ODA gets to learn from other mountain climbers, which not just limited themselve learning from ODA only.

Highligh of the trip:-
"Ting pakai skirt" to trip. Our ODA girl, PANG SIEW TING..... have a habit of tearing off her pants during trip nowadays. We don't know how her pants end up that way, for sure we know she is not fit into that pants anymore. She shall accept the fact that "it's time to buy new clothes"
Lan demo on Pang "skirt"

Last day out from Pos Gedong to Bidor, all of the sudden Hilux tires cut by some trees. I still remember when i hear the air leaking sound, i thought is water pipe leaking. I still joking with Sham that "bagus la, paip bocor boleh cusi kereta". Then we heard someone knocking the truck top, and ask for "stop, stop" . Oh no, its PUNCIT!!!! Arif take bout 15 minutes to changes the tires under heavy rain pour. If normal car, 15 mintues is consider normal. But changing Hilux tires, its not that easy as what we thought, REALLY!!!!

Before trip ended, Arif told me "aHoon, bulan 6 kita masuk lagi, ya." "Sudah 2 kali masuk sama, kali ketiga mesti masuk sama lagi", kita orang sama sama sampai peak!!!"

By the time we reached Native village, all the native is looking at us curiuosly. One of the native man ask us whether we reach the peak or not and we informed the native we didn't reach.

Then.... the native laughes at us :"itu la, kalau kami bawa, janji mesti sampai."
Then i start thinking, 5 years ago, our 1st trip you said "we will not return from the jungle," and nobody willing to be our guide; this trip you laughed at us cause we don't want to engage you all as guide.....你们到底想怎样哦?????

Anyhow, it's a very very wonderful trip for all of us, considered as reunion trip with some of the Tapah members, after about 4-5 years we didn't get the chance to hike together.

Reaching or not Reaching Bah Gading...... doesn't matter at all. As long as the mountain is there, we will reach there someday. Most importantly, we really have GREAT Times together with all the friends. Thanks alot for the wonderful trip :- Arif, Lan, Zubir, Rosli, Anthony and Sham

~~SEE YOU ALL IN GUNUNG BATU PUTIH!! ~~

My Sweet Yong Belar Trip Memory

This is my second time coming to Yong Belar after one year, asking me what different with previous feel and i only can said each trip although the mountain is same but what i gain will be different it is depend on who you join together and what kind of “期待” you make at the beginning or what is your purpose to attend to mountain climbing.

First of all, let us welcome the Agnes and Amelia who first to join with ODA trip. First day night after car traveling with 5 hour finally we reach our destination blue valley, while thanks god we have a good weather not bring the raining day from KL to there. A group of people include me choice to night walk before the vegetable farm have experience the happieness along the way plus the fresh air, wow it is so nice. Thankfully Miss Lim and Ka Chai come out to get us at Vegetable farm and thanks to Ka Chai driving skill let us experience the 4x4 rapid shooting and play with game avoid obstacle along the trail, full of fun for us. We meet with a group of 4x4 and thanks to them to let us share together the campsite they have make and borrow us to use the big gas stove.

Second day, at the beginning of stage let me have deep empression, only people who experience will know about, difficult to say by word. haha, for who not coming yet have a try if have chance. After the trail at camp periuk it is nitemare for me, gain a weight not enough exercise make me have "extra weight to carry" making me slow like turtle. After listen Ms lim said campsite at camp kasut, i totally set one's heart at rest.

Third day i didn't write here, after this we will have making a movie at youtube or you can see our friendster photos to see what happen next. Finally congratulation to everyone, we save and success come back from Gunung Yong Belar.
Now is special thanks to out trip leader and assistant trip leader Sean Siong and Siew Ting, success to plan and orgarnise the yong belar trip expedition. Second thanks to ODA Adviser and all Committees we have nice done at yong Belar trip. Third thanks to all participants: Ka Chai, Erica, Agnes, Amelia and Sarah.

2009 March 27th Yong Belar - Accomplished

Too many outdoor/mountain climbing activities after 2009 Chinese New Year 写blog写到手软. I believe most of ODA agree with this. Whenever there's trip, not only have to look for members to join, ODA need to do trip planning, trail research, equipments checking, grocerry shopping, trip training, as well as monitoring participants' preparation. After trip, equipments cleanning, trip reports, update mountain profile, trip cd, plus writting blogs nowadays.
Prior to Yong Belar trip preparation, I've minimum involvement on trip planning, as i know the combination of Sian Seong and Siew Ting will create unpredictable sparks and good outcome on Yong Belar. With them, i truly 放心.

Sian Seong, our trip leader ~~ 超低笑点characters..... is somehow able to laugh in anything, in anytime. But when he is conducting his tasks, he is 100% serious. For many times, i've been "scold" by him cause i wasn's serious with the questions he asked. Most of the time, he will said 不要玩啦!!!!
At camp Kasut, when Sian Seong volunteer himself for staying back along with Miing Rueng to prepare their group's breakfast, i am not suprise. Cause this is the Sian Seong we always know.... it is not because he is the trip leader for Yong Belar only he choose to do so, it is because he has a big heart. Thanks to you for the good trip preparation. Any comment been made on you after the trip, we will work it out together!!!!

Siew Ting has been with ODA since the begining, she is among the most "STEADY" committee in ODA (of course, or else she would not be ODA president) and for many times, i have propose the idea to her that soon she should upgrade her status to be ODA advisor. But, being as a true mountain climbers, she is always humble and feels that she is still not capable to take over the position. Once again, in Yong Belar trip, all of us get to see her ability and i am sure after she back from Liverpool, we will have a new advisor in ODA. Sincere thanks to Siew Ting for her dedication and sticking with ODA all these years and her assistanship to Sian Seong on the Yong Belar trip. You are a true mountain climbers!!!!

Ka Chai, didn't get to hike together with him in Yong Belar, but i heard that his backpack is very heavy. His driving skills is definitely 赞 !!!! Really enjoy seeing the way you drifted hilux, next time we will use the drainage to passby other cars as shown in "Initial-D".

Gunung Tahan, still open ... think about it, sure there is solution.

Amelia and Agnes - Created a history in ODA which for the 1st time in ODA, we have parent-daughter participants. Amelia is no doubt a sweet girl, didn't talk much but keep smiling alot, Thanks for helping setting up the flysheet at Camp Kasut, in between cleaning up or finish the work, you have choose to finish the work first, you are a great person. Agnes, a caring parent ~~ thanks for the extra efforts for preparing the eggs, bananas, home made powerbar for everybody. I get to taste the home made powerbar, its really powerful. As for bananas and eggs, i heard it gives them good energy to proceed, thanks alot. Admire your outdoor spirit, by putting the age issue aside. Hope i will able to be like you, still hiking by that time.

Mun Lee, 慢丽 Mun Lee ~~ Don't worry too much you have slower down the whole team to reach Yong Belar peak on day 1. Either reaching or not reaching on day 1, we still manage to reach, right? It's good to see your return to trip again, continue your training after office hours, you will have the same speed as others someday. I know you can do it, remember, you able to wear slipper to Nuang peak and back, there is nothing you can't do.

Lee Chee Loong ~~ Thanks for helping ODA after trip cleaning. Why insist to carry the 3 bottle of waters in your backpack even though your backpack is heavy??? Thanks for staying along with Yee Jin while he is having cramp on his leg. Last day you are superman, shot off real fast. If you go to Gunung Tahan, probably no ODA will able to catch up with you.

Hooi Yen~~ What else to say???? Nothing to worry, right? "Tease" you alot during the trip, hope you know that that's the sign of ODA that all really like you. "Someone" highly recommended you that must invite you to Yong Belar trip. That's why Yee Jin been assigned to persuade you to go along. Why that someone highly recommended you? Of course you have good things in you....Thanks godness finally you join the trip. Hope to see your mountain climbing story start from here.

Andy ~~ Our Yong Belar guide. Good Job laaa !!!! Seems like many "complaints" you walk too fast as 1st man??? Hahahaha, when will you get old and walk slower? Thanks for taking over the 1st man task.... remember what the "ex" said, when lfy on fire, she tends to talk very rude. The "briefing" session half way.... aiyaa, 不要讲了!!!

Next time sweeper and 1st man coordinate better, then will be ok. Remember to take 2 tablet of glucosamine everyday!!!!

~~Huay Woon, Yee Jin, Pooi Kuan, Miing Rueng, Fu Yaw,
Chian Nii and Bee Suan ~~
Trip leader and assistant trip leader done all the planning research and have assigned the tasks to each of you. Without each of you complete the tasks, the trip will not go as smooth as they have planned. Without each of your present in the trip, it will not be as joyful as we have in Yong Belar.

Good Job to all ODAs

Shoes broken, leg pain during Yong Belar trip. I have totally forgotten the feeling how i walked out from the jungle, i know that without the shoes and leg issue, we will be able to reach out the campsite earlier. Thanks to ODAs walk along with me. I will remember it!!!!

Ka Chai, Amelia, Agnes, Mun Lee, Chee Loong :-
Thanks for being part of the team to reach Yong Belar Peak together

Special thanks to the group of 4 x 4 members, who have shared their shelter with us on day 1 and shared their food with us when we came out from the jungle.

G7 Yong Belar Expedition 2009

Yoyo, I m great that I can join ODA to G7 Yong Belar trip… It is a good experience and I have fun there….

First of all, I want thanks to Fu Yaw. I know ODA because of him. And……….. I do remember……. On first day (27th March 2009), around 7.00pm, I caught traffic jam at penang bridge there, FY call me and ask me to gather at Simpang Pulai by 8.30 pm. “ouch no, I should hurry up, I dun wan be late” So…… I speed up my car to 150 km/h and reach there by 8.30pm. Walao yehhhhh, only I reach there……. The ODA still on the way to Rawang frm KL…. Finally I only know FY give wrong info 2 me… haha…. I should not blame he coz I also no study the planning too. Haha…

Hilux… This is first time I drive hilux… Thanks to Lao shi believe in me and let me “drift” her car… Haha, luckily we reach blue valley campsite safely… Lao shi, pai se o, I nearly cause hilux get stuck at mud pit… Heehee… I should clarify that I m not Takumi Fujiwara who expert in “秋名山”oooo …

80 degree staircase…. Really suffer me a lot…. I am not the climb up staircase, but I crawl up the staircase with heavy backpack… Really very, extreme tired la…. I really admire andy, he walk up the staircase lightly, like “no”!!! I think this is the most difficult path for me for this trip…

Muddy trail… Walao yeh….. The walk way is very muddy…. I try to dodge it until I bek tahan, dun care just walk through it…. Now I regret liao, coz difficult to wash my pants ahhhhh….. And also all mud goes into my shoe, feel ‘geli’ leh….. Haha…

Lao Shi….. “Shhhh, stop asks question and say sentences with question mark” Lao shi say. See, Lao Shi really very overbearing… Haha, dun misunderstanding…. When 9 of us (Lao shi, fy, phang, Erica, chee long, jin , hui wen, chian nii and me) start chitchat in a small dome, she is the one who set up the rule but she is the first one who breaks the rule… haha…. So, no questioning …. Haha …. Lao Shi, ur ikan masin + nasi goreng really delicious… ~~~Ohhaiyo~~~ ur voice really very loud ….. ^_^…. And one thing, I m not drinking india arak la…….

Aiyo, still got many sweet memory wanna to share but too many… Thanks Erica for ur chocolate. And also chee long, ur snack really surprising us a lot, no wonder ur backpack very heavy la….. Jin, u always unremitting although ur leg cramp, u are so ‘geng’….. Phang, thanks for prepare breakfast for us o…. Sara, u so geng, so energetic on the way back to Bodak frm camp periuk, we did success reach Bodak at first before ODA… haha… Andy, dun walk too fast ahhhh, really cannot catch up u ah……. Fu yaw, thanks for taking care me and invite me join ODA trip…. Lastly thanks to ODA committee, gud job….
See you in next trip…. Take care….

2009 Yong Belar Expedition

Yong Belar trip, another new experience in my life.

Whenever there is a trip, I get to learn new things and also make revision on the skills or knowledge that I learn before. Every trip, we emphasize that the most important thing is that all of us depart safely and come back safely, all other things is not as important as this. This trip, I get to know that whether you reach peak or not, it’s doesn’t a matter. Thanks to Lao Shi, Pang, Miing Rueng and Sian Seong prepare the breakfast, keep flysheet and tents down during we proceed to the peak.

Before the trip, we go for training at Jugra. This training made me think of the training that I made before Chamah trip. That time, I do training alone everyday at Jugra. Sometimes when time is allowed, Bee Suan will go together with me. But this time, there are so many of us at Banting going for training. I am not alone anymore. I am admired of Erica’s spirit. Even though she feels uncomfortable, she will still go to training, no excuse for her….

Thanks to Lao Shi for monitor and correct we whenever we do anything wrong. You teach us what you know, tell us story, share your experience with us and many many more… Thanks to ODA President, Pang. I believed you also tired and already spent a lot of time and effort helping Sian Seong prepared for this trip.Thanks for Sian Seong organized this Yong Belar expedition. 11 of ODA going to this trip. Really appreciated it as it is hard for us to gather together and go for trip. Thanks for your hard work. Thanks to everybody’s commitment for helping this trip successful, everybody enjoy the trip and come back safely. Thanks to Chee Long, Ka Chai, Erica, Mun Lee, Agnes and Amelia. Thanks for your support to ODA. Chee Long, thanks for the snack that you bring to peak. We enjoy it very much. Ka Chai, you always keep silent but you are very kind to help if there is anything needs your help. Your Driving skills really very good. Erica, you already prepared enough either is mentally or physically, believed yourself. Mun Lee, you always smiles, likes to see you smile. Agnes and Amelia, first time follow ODA trip, nice to meet both of you.

This trip let me know that there are too many things that I don’t know and need to learn and practice. Hope I will remember the lesson from this trip and improve it.

~~~~Yong Belar 27-29032009~~~~
I can say that i really didn't well prepare in this Pre Tahan trainning trip. Forgot to bring the raincover for my backpack and my cap. Besides, the self-training also because i really feel suffer along the up and down long trail. I really need more trainning before Tahan.
This is my 2nd G7, the trail of Yong Belar is tough compare to Yong Yap as up and down all the while.Therefore, even decending i also didn't find it easy. But compare to the last trail to the Yong Belar peak, Yong Yap still the toughest.
The speed and the stamina of chian ni, bee suan, erica really make me shock. The training they did in Banting really work well. Keep it!
Chianni even helped me to carry the 3 men dome from the last 3 hours(or more than?i not so remember the time) to Camp Kasut and also during descending.
Hiking, is really a tiring sport, but you will found that it is fun and amazing when you recall back after the expedition. I have gone through 2 G7 with ODA, never feel alone when i was tiring and EL, there are always someone by your side and show the smiling face,spread their caring and motivating spirit. As a probation ODA, this is what i still need to learn.
During this expedition, there was something happened caused LFY can't 'fly away' when descending. So she have to keep the speed as few of us. (but her speed still faster and amazing when she speed up).Honest to say, i felt more spirit though EL when hike together with them. I not sure whether this kind of thinking is correct or not because seem like not independent enough. Anyway, along the hiking trail, you will feel great though there was only one partner by your side. (thanks Bee Suan, she always wait for me when descending)
Sian Seong, our young young trip leader. Thank you for what you have done in this trip and and our group too(1st time to YB, but can't go peak due to prepare breakfast for our group).
Thanks to siew ting, ODA president who remind me and help me a lot before the trip. And thanks to all the commitees and particpants especially my group members who gave cooperation in our group.
Of course... finally... Thousand appreciate our Advisor, LaoShi's guiding and motivating spirit. Shoes broke out, leg pain, still can hike with smiling face. yeah, i know, this is ODA spirit!!
Wonderful Yong Belar Expedition in Year 2009
Wonderful Yong Belar Expedition in Year 2009
I was so excited before a day to Yong Belar Expedition. Cant sleep at all for the pass one night before we depart to Cameron.Thinking of this is another excellent trip in ODA Year 2009. And the main reason is all ODA members are able to join Yong Belar expedition. Only CS cant joined us due to working, cant apply leave.
This is a minority chances that can gather all ODA in expedition. Because everyone of them come from different places, have to work, study, family, relationships etc... I had fall in love with all ODA committees and ofcourse ODA Advisor - LFY - Lao si - Ms Lim "With Honourable Title" :) as well. Totally in dreaming with everyone jokes, smile,laughing,singing together when we going to trip all the times... "This is cause i cant concerntrate on my sleeping time at all" :) Asking around the committees in next day, i found out actually most of them have a same feeling with me, too excited, cant sleep at all.
In ODA, we have build up a very strong bonding among us. "We Believe, We Trust, We Care, We Love, We Shared, We Comminucate, We Accept, We Tolenrate, We Do, We Concern, We Open to everyone and do things together" This is something great which until now, i still cant found at any others outside association. Everyone of us are from different background, yet of the faith all of us are in ODA today. Doing the great things togethers, sharing your knowledge and experiences with people all the times. Moving to one direction, and mission together no matter who are u in social status, working, income,experience,level etc...
I think everyone of us, should say Thank You to Lao Si who had really spot u and brought every single of us in ODA, Mountain Life, Life Experience etc.... Always remember, she is the one who make our life different with others, and gone through with us all the obstacles. Honestly, I always think that, she is born and assigned by God to cheers up people around. And we are the one who appointed by God to special touch up by this angel. To be a better, charm person in our life!!! We should appreciate her effort, who really shape us, guide us, teach us everythings with uncondition. This is always make me remember, to be serious on ODA works, no play play mood are allowed when doing things. Unless it is a play times. Because i cant even pay back the unconditional effort spend by LFY on me. It is too much, overload!!!! Every single words come out from her, we should open a file save into our brain storage. To memorized all the times, and u will used it without your realized it one day. Believe on me!!!
Year 2009, ODA 1st Pre- Tahan Training - Gunung Yong Belar had been declared as very sucessful expedition. Everyone go safety and return safety on time. Thank you all Yong Belar Expedition participants who join us and make the trip meaningful. "Ka Chai (Duncan), Erica (The One and Only Erica), Mun Lee (Sara Aka), Chee Loong, Amelia, Agnes" All of u are well prepared to the trip, coordinate with us and show your teamwork as a outdoor persons. Wish to see you all in coming trip!!!
Not forgot to special thanks to our 2009 Yong Belar Expedition Trip Leader, See Sian Seong (SSS),17 ++ year old who full of responsibility, passion carry on this G7 trip. Without him well arrangement, planning, we cant went to Yong Belar trip so sucessful. And the spirit of staying back at Camp Kasut choose not going up the G7 peak to enjoy but prepared breakfast, ready downs the equipment for everyone, is something i want to praise. With the younger age, but he already up to the level that think of others people rather than himself benefit in the crucial time. I see you growth through Mountain Climbing activity.
I only can say one word to u"WELLDONE"!!!
ODA Committees : Ang Bee Suan, Ang Chian Nii, Tan Huay Woon, Choy Pooi Kuan, Andy Goan, Yong Miing Rueng,How Fu Yaw, Yeoh Yee Jin all of u are the key person to make this trip sucessful and bring alot of funniest as well. To be lead, sweper, group leader,motivators,story teller etc.... What to say again?! Mentioned one by one in future blog!!! All keep inside "HEART"
Regards,
ODA President 2008/09
My 1st G7 ---- Yong Belar !!! ^^
27th- 29th March 2009, Yong Belar Trip.
Last year ODA Taman Negara Trip was the last time I joined ODA trip. Once again, I back to Taman Negara this year on 7th- 9th March. After that, I had decided to join Yong Belar trip. It was the 1st G7 for me. This time I'm not asking for my parents permission, but just INFORM them that i'm going for this Yong Belar trip. Haha~~ It has been so so so long time I didn't join ODA trip since last year Taman Negara trip. So, this trip I got a bit kelam-kabut...worry too much. Yong Belar was tough enough as all the trail is muddy trail. The 80 degrees staircase make all of us like monkey walking...use hands to walk too. Haha ~~
Almost all the time I walked together with Erica. The journey from camp periuk to camp kasut was so so so tired. I already EL that time. But Erica keep encourage me...keep asking me...hui wen, are u okie? hui wen, reach flat ground d...jia you!! She was such a great gal...thanks you so much ya.
This trip was quite tired as the schedule was so rush. I back home already 6am and terus sleep. 8am woke up WORK again. That day, almost sleep whole day in office. Haha~~ But really thanks chian nii so much...as she always be our driver fetch us go training, go KK, back banting...without her, I think we all banting 1 big head d...facing transport problem. She same tired as everyone felt, but she still have to drive half hour journey to banting and sent us to home safely. Sincerely, thank you so much...always appreciate it!! ^^
Thanks trip leader, advisor and president for such well trip planning also. All had back here on time and safely. I'm glad that can go for mountain climbing with ur guys again...miss the moment so much when i'm inactive for the past year. Your guys are so great and all of you are so unique and different with others. Have ODA spirit, strong mentality, good attitude, and all are so kind as well. Keep it up...!!!
This trip I kena biten by agas...very teruk!! One week already, but my face still got a lot of red spot. Back home d, mom say " aiyoyo,why ur face becum pig face d? " After that, went to office, my colleague asked "aiyoyo, why ur face kena mosquito biten til like tat a?" Then, yam cha with frens, my frens laugh "aiyoyo, u kena chicken pot ar??" Alamak...stop!! Dont ask me anymore please, I'm tired of answering all this questions. Haiz...that day my colleague asked me "ur face kena biten til like tat, u still wan go mountain climbing ar? I answered "yes...definitely !!!" My fren asked me pulak "why ur face kena bite til like tat, u stil wan go mountain climbing?" I said "For me, the scars juz the表面that ppl look, it will disappear one day. But every scars have it own stories that ppl will never know and understand. And all this stories make me grown, make my life simple but meaningful and fruitful. It make my life full of sweet memories too. I'm tougher than before, stronger and more positive thinking since I went mountain climbing. That day, I shared a lot ODA mountain climbing stories and experiences with a fren. She said "Hui wen, you always make me feel that ur life is wonderful, adventure, meaningful and different with others. I hope one day I can go mountain climbing with ur guys too...I look forward for it." This was what my fren told me. That time, I reali realised that my life was totally different with other teenagers. When they're busy shopping, I'm busy camping. When they're busy patto+ing, I'm busy sharing my stories. When they're busy sleeping, I'm busy preparing for the nex activity. Thanks ODA always support me do the right things and keep teaching me a lot of new things.
At last, thanks everyone that put your effort in this trip. Thanks ODA !!
EVERY LITTLE ACTION ON OUR PART CAN GO A LONG WAY TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT.IF WE ALL GET TOGETHER AND PUT SOME EFFORT FOR IT, WE CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!!
Yong Belar Trip 2009
Nice Trip !! Gunung Yong Belar!!
Hey hey hey ... Sian Seong here !!
G.Yong Belar Expedition, a special expedition for me...This is my first G7 mountain and my first time be G7 Trip Leader and is the 1st pre-tahan training in year 2009. Thanks to all ODAs, they helped me alot on trip planning. They give many advice to me during my preparation , so that I can make a better planning. I oso wan to special thanks to Pang, assistant trip leader for this G7 expedition. She helped me to correct my mistake before trip and during trip.
Not only committees , I oso like to thanks to every participants that join us on this Yong Belar trip. U all did very well in this trip. Everyone had achieve our trip objectives , TEAMWORK, SKILLS , SELF-DISCIPLINE !!
Teamwork, Everyone were helping each other during hiking,cooking,and oso transfering water from water source to campsite.
SKILSS , everyone were learnt some knots skills , cooking skills, and hiking skills. These skills will helped you alot on outdoor activities.
SELF-DISCIPLINE , although we need to wake up on 5.30am , but you all can wake up on
time, and use the shortest time to prepare yourself to Peak, this is a good sign of SELF-DISCIPLINE.
Before trip , as i knw, everyone were put alot of effort on training. Every Participants and ODA committees was very hardworking on training. Banting committees and participants went to Bkt Jugra everyday for training. Even ODA advisor , Miss Lim oso cycle to work as a training for Yong Belar trip. Gunung Yong Belar Trip
Hi! hi!!....its been a week since Yong Belar trip. The agas mark has turned from red to black...haha... First of all i would like to thank Trip Leader---> Seong for organizing this trip. A lot of work need to be done for preparing this G7. Good work and well done. Im not good at story telling..so as usual i would like to share what i have learn in this trip.
First of all , think before we act. This trip make me realize that i need to do more thinking in my head and not to follow my feelings before acting. This is important during hiking and everyday lives. Sometimes we like to follow what we feel and ignored other things that are much more important.
Purpose of hiking is not always to reach the peak, it is the journey and the people that makes it meaningful. This i totally forgot during Yong Belar trip. Still remember the last time we went to Yong Yap. That trip is tough, but i enjoyed the trip. Makes me feel that going to the peak is not the main purpose. Also,most important thing is to depart and return safely.......I will be reminding myself this in the future....
Mental and Physical preparation is crucial. We all have been training our self for the past few weeks. Without proper training definitely we will be late coming out to Blue Valley Campsite. I myself went for jogging at my school's track. I'm glad to have work out and physically fit for this trip...haha....Hard works will pay off eventually. Be prepared for everything...
That's all for now. Wish everyone is doing fine. And see you next trip..yeah!!
2009 April 3rd -5th Gunung Bah Gading
忙忙忙,ODA 太忙....
5 days after tiring Yong Belar trip, ODA is on move again. This week, we will be at Gunung Bah Gading 5318ft'.
When received the invitation from Tapah's members, all got a shocked !!! Because ODA is not fully physically recover from previous Yong Belar trip after 22 hours trekking within 2 days, 10 hours expose to rain while on Yong Belar trekk plus cold weather!!!
Bee Suan and Siew Ting decided to join, which make it a "ODA Female Trip", even though they know it will be a tough trip again as non of us been to this mountain before, so do Tapah members. The information ODA has on hand regarding to trip schedule, water point, terrain conditions is unclear. The only thing we able to do is mentally well prepared,
"Expect for the Unexpected." and
"Hope for the Best, Be Prepared for the Worst"
We are awaiting to view the 360' degree view point at Bah Gading Peak, and have a glance of Gunung Batu Putih Peak as well ~~
We will get out from Bah Gading by sunday night. Looking forward to write more about this expedition and share the story with everybody !!!!!
