Unforgettable Trip - Chabang

Yoyoyo, BBW。。。 Chabang!

Gunung Ulu Sepat (G7) Expedition

Gunung Ulu Sepat

SEAT ARE LIMITED!!

This mountain is remote and unknown to many people. It is located in Belum Forest (Hutan Belum). Any Malaysians will know that Hutan Belum is still virgin, untouched by the outside world. If you are lost in this Hutan Belum, the nearest civilisation is 40/50 kilometers away and that's about 3 days of trek if you walked straight. In 1996, the total number of people summiting this mountain is still a double digit figure. Till now the number is still low, considering the inaccessible nature of that place.

There's abundant supply of flora, high in medicinal value. Aboriginal tribes, called Orang Asli still use this forest as a base for primary living. The only contact to the outside world is a 3 hours boat ride through Temenggur Lake (Tasik Temenggur).

Tasik Temenggur is formed when the government decide to built a dam on a Temenggur River in 1970s. As a result, the forest submerged in water to form the lake. Even now, we can see most of the dead tree coming out of the water, still standing proud. This lake has been a main transport system for the Orang Asli, linking Grik to Pos Kemar

Chabang Trip 16 October 2009

I had a wonderful time climbing Gunung Chabang! Actually, didn't expect it to be tougher than Gunung Irau, which we climbed on Merdeka Day. I couldn't find much information from the internet about Gunung Chabang this time. I only know that the starting is very steep. The rest was for us to find out on the day itself. Then, on the way to Simpang Pulai, Kenn told us that Chabang is tougher than Irau..I'm was like =.='' Cham-lo!

But it was a great experience! A first-hand experience of night-time climbing and heavy downpour at the same time. The view upon reaching the peak is quite magical. So proud that we all can reach the 1st peak! So a few of us reach the peak around 4pm and reach back at the campsite at around 11+pm..a total of 14 hours we spent on Gunung chabang for a day!WOWww..hahaha..Amazing! ^.^ And we had the pleasure of listening to Chu Hang,Kenn, Simpson and Jonny singing on the way up to the peak..hahaa(Aiya..we should arrange for a K-session one day la!) Passing the backpack and walking stick to 1 another also wana cry out,"Thunder-thunder-thunder Cat!" =.=''' So funny! Thanks for entertaining us!! Thanks to All the ODA committee for bringing us to Gunung Chabang..without ur effort and help, we couldn't have made it up and down Gunung Chabang.*thumbs up* Lao-shi,Chian Nii, Bee Suan, Siew Ting.

Lao-shi: ya-lor.been secretly training.I jog in place in the room for 15mins and bodycombat for 15 mins 3 times a week before the trip.I'm very lazy when it comes to exercising..but since I have the goal to reach the peak so I have to make some sacrifice. :)

Pooi Kuan: Thanks for ensuring we have adequate food throughout the trip and taking photos for us. And most importantly willing to be our group leader again for this trip! Very happy!

Fu-Yaw & Andy: Another 2 ODA committee. Thanks for staying back with us to lead us back to the campsite safely.Very courageous!

Wai-Kit: Thanks for stopping at place to be my brake when i slide down from t
he slippery slope.Very helpful!

Kenn: Thanks for the ride, entertainment and pointing out all the branches blocking us on the way down.Very good!

H'ng & Jonny: Thanks for joining us in this trip..1st time will always be unforgettable and we made it! Yay!

Simpson: Thanks for dragging me for training, mountain climbing, and accompanying me on the way down! :p

Chong Ee: Thanks for the great photos!

Chu Hang,Chee Long,Chu Yao,Han-Yuk,Cikgu Mus,Shafiq: Great to know u all!

-Hope to see u all again soon-

Gununng Chabang 16-18 OCt 2009

Great Chabang!Chabang Chabang...is it the named because of having few confusing cabang??

It is slightly pity that we can't reach to peak 5. But, i think is enough for me, as to peak 1 already not easy somemore without backpack.

Chabang's trail steep enough and endless....almost all the while 45degree. Really want to give a clap to those carry backpck to peak 1. This trip, we have gone through a lot of 'adventurous' during descending..night walk under heavy rain, shoe lost, leech attack , 'safe' torch light, river crossing, slip down,..all these have given us unforgettable memory and experiences.
Besides, this is my 1st time to climb with our special ODA commitee, Ms Puffy. I think she is really a good commitee as shealways look after people behind her though sometimes she will merajuk, when her foot was dirty, when she was tiring.

Again, this is my pleasure to be 'virgin' group group leader.
I like my group members indeed, thanks for supporting all the while and apologized that i was not with all of you during you were 'trapped' in the jungle while waiting to river crossing under the heavy rain. Anyway, i enjoyed and proud to be same group with you, group 2 members!

Chain Ni - Trip Leader was same group with me. Our pleasure. Thanks for prepare this trip for us teach me n Chu Hang fried the papadam....
Chu Hang - Thanks for help me to cook rice and papadam ya.....
Fu Yaw - Thanks for helping me cooking and your guidance in leading a group.
Kenn - our 'kai xin guo' without you, our group will not so colourful
Simpson - Good chief cum 'kai xin guo'.You and Kenn really our 'group treasure' , thanks for make our group happening all the while. Wana thank you again your help in cleaning during 2nd day night.
Valerie - Sweet and kind heart girl. Thanks for helping me in cleaning all the while. Your hiking speed really improve a lot. I am sure you can go G7 soon:)

Chong Ee-Take back your ubi?nice to know you ya, good camera man!
Han Yuk - Next time hope you have a good shoes, so you won't slippering always during descending.
H'ng - Hurray!You did it!
Johnny-Appreciate your help to wash the messtin though you are not group 2.
Chu Yao - Sorry for not given a good guide in rice cooking.....
Wai Kit - So envy your smooth leg..not only smooth, but strong too...

Finally of course thanks ODA Advisor, Ms Lim, ODA commitees: Pang, Andy,Chian Ni, Bee Suan, FuYaw, for organize, guidance and arrangement for this trip, without you, dont have 'Virgin' group..Andy and FuYaw really did a good job in leading the 2nd group during the dark night, heavy rain and river crossing. Gambatee!
