Gunung Datuk July 17-18
On July 17 , I left sunway in groups of cheryl and yi ming. Anxiously travel to the gathering spot.
We arrived at Taman Bahagia LRT station to meet up with everyone else.
The others came subsequently and we started our travel to Gunung Angsi.
What a disappointment when we reach there. We got restricted from climbing the hill due to unfavourable circumstances. The ODA committee makes a comclusive decision to conquer Gunung Datuk again. I was pretty excited, I definitely want to attempt the vertical ladder again.
When we arrived at Gunung Datuk. It was already nightfall. We camp beside the waterfall again. I manage to dip myself into the cold water this time. It was a brainfreeze experience. We ate maggi for dinner and ate junk food for supper.
The next morning we woke up and cook breakfast and lunch for our trip later.
We attempt Datuk around 11am. 2 hours later we reached the hilltop. It was cloudy when we arrived up there. We took our lunch and break for a moment. After sufficient rest, we climb to the peak. It was pretty misty up there. This time, I was calm. Unlike the first attempt early this year, I was shaking uncontrollably when I climb the ladder. I conquered my fear f height partially. It was awesome. Success is ringing in my head. I am so proud of myself.
When we was savouring the heights of Gunung Datuk. We were disrupted by the rain. Small droplets started with heavy rainfall subsequently. We descend the ladders and took shelter under a big rock. We kept our warmth by standing close to each other and cook water to keep our body temperature under control. After the rain slightly subsided, we started to hike down. It was icing when we left the shelter as there are strong gusts of wind. I manage to get hold of myself when we entered into the jungle.
I got out the Gunung Datuk about 3 plus. It was fun.
Thanks to ODA. This trip took out my mind from my hectic life.
Best of all, they help me to take control over my fear of heights.
Thanks to my group leader Monica, members Adrian, SSS, Yi Ming, Cheryl, Jai wong.
Thanks to Lao Shi, Ah Pang, Chianni and everyone else.
Thanks for remembering me when I was the quiet one. =)
Cheers everyone!
Gunung Datuk Hiking trip
it seems...every mountain trip i go...sure got rain...either accending or decending......lol.... when we reach at the peak...it rained heavily.....the rain is not the problem.....is the cold wind .. so... we all cuddle together with our ground sheets on our head to shade away against the rain n wind..... it was fun climbing down the mountain...jumping here n there...people tend to reach the bottom faster then climbing to the peak...lol....even the slowest person also can keep phase with the well experience climber.... coz mayb they cannot tahan d...haha..wan go bak :3

Gunung Datuk Expedition On 2010 July 17th-18th
Thank You
Best Regards

ODA GUNUNG DATOK
It is true that I like hiking, and i like nature so much.
i had enjoy in this trip with meeting new friends, eating at jungle, sleep at jungle, bath in midnight and the most is i managed to climb up to peak of Gunung Datok.
I like the way ODA do the things, they teach you basic and you learn the rest.
This help the youth learn more and i would like to recall back my memories since i stop hiking at 1 years ago....
Never the less, ODA had doing well for new comer like me. And i really really like it.
So chian ni, call me if there got some more trip. I'll make my time and join your all again.
See you all, and ODA,I love you^^
From F.S - About G.Datuk
Harlo harlo! Fuh..finally manage to take a break to comment about the trip after a busy hectic week.
Sorry for being an outer space idiot. (whispering*..i seriously don't know where to start writing feedback, that's why I choose one of the ODA's blogs and comment under it.)
This is my first trip with ODA. At first, we were quite afraid before the day came, takut "beh cham".
Luckily, everyone came out to be very very friendly than expected. Took really great care of us. And, the food was indeed--- NICE..especially Milo and maggie mee..hehe..
I like the 'Ramli burger special' that we bought at the stall at Ulu bendol campsite. yummy. Too bad not many of you tried the burger with us together gether.
The committees are great people. Kind of admire how come you guys can carry huge bags and still walk as if you guys have nothing on your shoulders?
Hmm.. If Puffy can let us sleep for a few more hours, then I think the whole trip will be SUPERB. lol (ouchh! lao si, don't smack me :p )
Don't feel like saying a big thank you note here to every committee, group leader, team member. hehe..later ter-blurt out the wrong name pulak.
I feel appreciative of the supports, experiences, and joy that you guys brought. Remember to take us out together too for all upcoming events ya.
Together we hike, together we grow. See you guys around.
cheers,
FS- (guess who? hehe)

-Gunung DATUK-
Looking forward for more and more trips with them in the future =D
Although this was the second time i've been to Gunung Datuk
but it feels totally different from last trip as in this time, a bigger challenge we had and the main point was, we manage to conquer it!!
this proves that sometimes, it may not be the first time we try on something, but we will gain different experience.
Hiking with ODA is definitely not a thing that make u feel like 'ooohh~~that was yesterday......'
everytime (not many times though) i get back from hiking, the feeling of excitement, satisfaction, and ofcause happy will revolve around me...
People will ask, dont u feel tired??
the question is, will u still complaint if the good feeling exceed the bad?
NO! and u can even still have a refresh in life.....strenghthen ur mind to face the challenge in life!!
The overriding feeling was one of relief, relief that I was finished, relief that I could stop and sit down for a while.
Hiking is really a superb way to experience the wilderness of our mother nature.
Before the climb, according to my last time so-called experience , we thought that it should be a very accessible moutain, but somehow, it should not however be underestimated, the steepness and the bad whether in particular representing a tough challenge which requires more than a decent level of fitness.
To be able to complete this trip,
a big thank you to every ODA COMMITTEES
for all the preparations, all their efforts to makesure every of the participants can complete the climb safely,
for the cares and friendliness,
the given opporturnity to join them for all the wonderful trips!!!
All the experiences leave an indelible mark on my mind.
It colours up my life,
and again , leaving me with the desire to join ODA again for another visit!!!
Pheiying =)

Gunung Datuk
This trip is my 2nd ODA trip and I enjoyed this time more than the last.. Why?
1. No leaches bit me!! Unlike Alfred who was bitten in a very unlucky spot :P
2. No muscle aches after the trip!! After the first trip I couldn't climb down the stairs for two days!
3. I've already gotten to know most of the participants during my first trip at Bujang Melaka.
4. I managed to remember more names.... (poor memory.. Sorry Adrian for I kept calling you Arnold)
5. Very very nice campsite with river and this time we're allowed to play in the water!
6. Spent most of the night chit chatting and playing cards in the cool weather. And only 3 girls sleeping in the 4-men-dome. It's practically a bangalow!
7. The super scary trip up and down the ladder at the peak. Everyone was teasing Alfred for being afraid during his first climb up but truth to tell, my legs were also shivering as I made that climb. Thanks Sian Seong for encouraging me..
8. Sharing body heat. Hehe.. I bet you didn't know that body heat could be so soothing until we huddled together under the ground sheet like male penguins when hatching their eggs. Next time I must remember to bring my raincoat. Why in the world I took it out of my bag, I don't know. Well, lesson learnt!
Most of all, I don't think I would have enjoyed myself at all if it weren't for everyone. We all cooperated and helped each other which made everything so easy and fast. Watching how Monica get everyone to help out without giving orders really make me respect her. I hope I can be like that. Thanks Monica.
Thanks A Kit for driving us. It's amazing you can still drive a manual car through a slight jam after that long climb. Without dinner too! In fact you still had the energy to tell jokes and talked non stop all the way back. Sorry that I was knocked out. hehe..
I can't wait for the Yong Belar trip! Hope to see everyone there! Thanks!!
Great Adventure of Gunung Datuk
Second time of joining hiking trip by ODA. Compare to last time Bujang trip, this time is more enjoying than challenging....haha
Have learnt a lot from this trip. And most importantly i get to experienced where those ancient ppl used to hide in the cave to escape the heavy downpour..lol!!
Althought this is only the second time of hiking , but through ODA, i experienced a lot especially this time. Apparently raining at the peak was so freezing and challenging.
I was totally amazed by the enormous stones at the peak of Gunung Datuk, i have never seen all this magnificient creation of god before and would not have in future if i didn't join this trip. Was glad tat i finally join it and enjoyed it to the very last minutes of this trip!!!
Lastly i would like to thanks to all of the members of Gunung Datuk trip for enjoying with me and taking care of me...^.^
I wish and really wish tat i can spare out more free time to join oda trip again in future~
2010 July 17-18 Gunung Angsi/ Gunung Datuk

ODA commitee- Sian Seong, Bee Suan, Chian Ni & Chee Loong

Amazing G.Datuk/Angsi July 2010 !!
Congratulations to every G.Angsi/Datuk expedition participants for completing a trip full with challenging (Night walk, Night bath, bad weather, etc) !!
After 2 years, ODA decided to conduct a trip to G.Angsi again…But, due to some problems from G.Angsi office, we again, decided to change our destination to G.Datuk, another mountain which majority participants in this trip never visit before.
For me, the most significant event during this trip was raining heavily after we taking photos in G.Datuk Peak. We only managed to take a few photos at G.Datuk’s Peak, before raining. All those ladders become very slippery, and therefore we have to be extra careful when we descend from G.Datuk’ Peak especially when we go down by using all those ladders.
When we realised that rain is getting stronger and stronger, then we decided to stay at a small cave until the rain stop. Thanks to Chee Loong for carrying up all other members backpackto the cave, so that all those backpack wont get wet. And also thanks to Chian Nii, forboiling some hot hot water for us.
Fortunately, after an hour of freezing, finally we able to leave the cave and continue descend to carpark.
Besides that, I’m very enjoy the time with my group (Group 1) members. They are Monica, Jai Wong, Adrian, Alfred, Xue Er, and also Yi Ming.
Group 1 leader, Monica - you has improved a lot from the last time I saw you which was East
West trip. This trip, from what I saw, you able to managed the group well by assigning tasks and items accordingly and able to get things done faster and better. Other than that, as a group leader, you willing to teach and share your knowledge with other group members, this is great ! Keep it up!!Hope you can continue improve yourself and become better.
Jai Wong- Thanks for being our professional photographer and shooting so many of beautifulphotos during trips. Is not easy to carry a camera up and down all the time especially during hiking. Besides that, in this trip you are one of the most senior participants, and you willing to share your knowledge and skills with other group members which are still new.
Adrian- Although this was only your 2nd hiking trips with ODA, but you already started picking up some skills like cooking skills, assist in setting up flysheet, and etc. During the night at LubukPetai, if I’m not mistaken, the noodles that you cooked is tasty (far more better than Bujang Melaka trip potato), this showed the improvement in your cooking skill. Continue in your effort, Hope you can improve more in coming trips !!
Alfred- After January G.Datuk trip, 6months later, you visited G.Datuk again..hahaha..But this trip you are different from previous trip especially you manage to overcome your fear and climbed to G.Datuk peak in one-shot. Congratulations !! Not only that, another good thing from you was this time you are more volunteer to do something like cooking, cleaning up after our meal, etc. Keep it on ! You can do better !!
Yi Ming & Xue Er- This trip, finally we put both of you into the same groups !! This is the 2nd trip with ODA for both of you. Both of you has improved and perform better in this trip. Xue Er prefer cooking more than preparing ingredients while Yi Ming always like to preparing ingredients. So when preparing our meals, both of them will always work together to get it done faster. Without the effort from both of you, I think we will not get our meals done so fast. Thank you !! =)
Last but not least, thanks to Trip Leader, ODA Pang Siew Ting for putting so much of effort in planning and preparing items for this amazing trip. She startedto plan and even do pre-marking for this trip very early to ensure that everyone are able to enjoy the trip. Other than that, she also the person who bought all the food for our trip ! Once again, Thank you !!
And of course, thousand of thank you to our ODA Advisor, Miss Lim Kwee Hoon for spending a lot of time for the preparation of this trip too. She always be the one who guided us from before trip preparation( pre-marking, trip planning, and etc) until the trip end. We have to thanks for her for creating so much of joke and bring us so much of fun during trip..Thankssss !!!
Lastly, thanks to all others ODA Committees, Chian Ni & Bee Suan for helping out and take caring participants during trip, and Jimmy for helping us for the preparation for trip. Without all the help from everyone, we can’t make this trip a success!! Thank you !!
Gunung DATUK
When I was observing the shadow cast by every little things on the ground, even trees, rocks, sand and everything that our human eye can see.Its the work of God and mother nature. Shadow cast by big trees in the forest, serve as a shelter for us when the sun is shinning bright, filter out heavy downpour, big rocks, overhead of us,serve as a refuge for us when there is lightning striking fiercely out there. why is human never satisfy with what is given to us? why even bother to destroy it?
2nd trip for me is quite interesting, as I'm starting to learn something deep, deep within me and the whole team who is around me. Its a chance for everyone to gain something from the nature.
tiring is one thing, joy is the other! Great work for ODA to still keeping up the good spirit of bringing everyone together to appreciate the greens.
Well, first time feeling the rain on top of the mountain. It's cool though, trying hard to scramble down from top to the bottom was really a nice thing to do, jumping all the way down. But hey folks!I'll be sure to bring more raisins next time =D
and special thanks to the organizer and my team members and my leader MONICA! you've been very helpful! and you all are really cool!!!ROAR!
and thanks to my wax which has helped my hair to keep standing for the whole 2 days =P
2010 July "WOW" G.Angsi/Datuk Expedition
WOW for closing the dateline earlier - Original target is 25, but we have actual 29 registered members.
Wow for been chased by the Ulu Bendol Ranger - 1st time happen in ODA history
WOW for staying up late - Good junk food sharing moment, thanks to Chee Loong (official sponsor for trip) and Tata.
WOW for lots of noodle meal plan - Bravo to our trip leader for her creativity in meal plan. After all, after more than 80 trips within 5 years, what to eat during hiking trip, which is acceptable, suitable and yet fulfilling is always the biggest challenges. She really takes lot of time to come up with the meal plan.
WOW for the weather - Very rare that G.Datuk will rain during that hour.
WOW for everyone who still able to smile and feel satisfied even the view at Peak is been blocked - G.Datuk is always a almost 100% guarantee nice peak scenery.
WOW for holding on for hours under heavy rain and wind - When received the message from Sian Seong stated "heavy rain, can't proceed" - We're worried, luckily heavy rain came after everyone is down from the Rock at PEAK - We're Blessed.
WOW for Adrian's hair - Let's see whether his hair still able to stand at Yong Belar trip?
WOW for lots of comments on Nice trip photo at Facebook - Jai Wong complaints that Email account been jammed up by facebook notification, but he forgot who is the one snapped all those nice photo.
2010 July 17&18 *Gunung Bunga Buah->Gunung Angsi->Gunung Datuk*
Gunung Angsi is my first mountain to visit in my life. I have decided to explore again with all members. Who know when visited Gunung Angsi, we have been chased by the officer few times which is not allowed us to camp at the area. They have added more rules and regulations. Thanks for all members are agree to change venue to Gunung Datuk with us. Eventhough, some of the members had visited Gunung Datuk before, but i am sure you all had experiences the different feeling on every hike.
When saw the photo capture at the Peak, i have a very different feeling come out from my mind. I was thinking "In 5 years hiking with ODA, we had went to atleast 20 times to Gunung Datuk but this is the first time i didnt get to see the beauty city in seremban town. Just reached the Peak within 5 minutes, all the cloud are around them. And start to raining!!!!" I believe Alfred, Chee Loong, Tata, Jai Wong who is went to Datuk before, they will see the different view in Gunung Datuk Peak.
I just simply love mountain activity, back to 5 years ago "ODA Pretty Enstein Lim" a.k.a "Laosi" had told me this before. "Eventhough Mountain activity is a very tough activity, but through out the activity you will see everyone with their real characters" (cited in 2006,Laosi). Because, some people will decided to let the bad situation turn become better. But, some people will appear with their real face in bad situation like acting become self-fish. Thanks Tata - cooking the mee for everyone when early reached Ranger office. Adrian - to boiled the Milo for everyone.Chee Loong to move participants backpack to avoid getting wet in heavy rain. Chian Nii - to boil the hot water to everyone. Monica - to take care all participants in raining. Sian Seong and Bee Suan - keep trying to searching the phone line to contact with Laosi and me.To make sure all the members are in safety mode all the times.
Thanks to our old friends : Min Choo, Tata, Xue Er, Yi Ming, Alfred, Adrian, Phey Ying, Poh Ling, Eng Wah, Ser Siew, Jie Yi come along to join us again and bringing all you friend to the outdoor activity with ODA.
Great to know new friends in ODA trip : Sim Yee, Fong sim,Saw Kien, Poh San, Kai Yee. Everyone with their happy characters and bringing alot of funs in the trip.
Thanks to Datuk Trip Drivers: Laosi, Chee Loong, JaiWong, Weng Kit, Poh San, Kwang Leong. To make sure everyone depart and come back safety from Datuk trip.
Finally, ofcouse want to praise an excellent team mates in ODA : SianSeong, Monica, Bee Suan, Chian Nii and Fu Yaw, Miing Rueng, Gah Gee (who is currently at outstation) who always make sure all the trip in ODA are run smoothly and safety.
Hope to see everyone in coming ODA activity!!!!!

Siew Ting
