This is my third trip on G7 Expedition. Before going a bit 期待 and a bit 担心,哈哈 cause my weight gain liao then later how to bring the spare tyre together. Faithfully, I am success and all of my team member all reach the yong yap peak and coming back with save.
First day climbing from Pos Broke to Campsite 1, actually the starting we climb with 4x4. Luckily LAoshi have drive her Hilux, if not then we need climb with another hour to reach to kampung asli. Before that need to introduce our guide the Mr.?? aiya forgot the name who smart but cannot say fulfill the requirement of mountain climbing guide. At the final part before reach the Kampung Asli, Hilux trap in the 泥浆. Haha then also a experience playing 4x4 Crossing. Overall the day one hike is boleh tahan, just too much river need to cross until not feel when see with river.
Day 2, Starting quite fun, everyone speeding. Uhuh when ascending to the peak, aidi everystep trap with muddy ground until the end nearly giveout, no choice have to cheep myself thinking lot of honney and sweet then finally i am reach the peak. After descending to Campsite 1, all part of body likely out of control.

Yong Yap!!!
Congratulation to all members who accomplished G7- Gunung Yong Yap 2008!
ODA, We have make it happen!
Lao Si, Fu Yaw, Chian Nii, CS, MR, ND, Pooi Kuan all of you had create another history in ODA!
Memory of G7:
1st G7 - Gunung Tahan 2006 & 2007
2nd G7- Gunung Yong belar 2007& 2008
3rd G7- Gunung Chamah 2008
4rd G7- Gunung Yong Yap 2008
Gunung Yong Yap is my fourth G7 to visit, if you asked me how is the trip? I will considered it is tough. But all toughest feeling gone through when i know i went to ODA members and the great people around!
Friends always asked me, what you so enjoy about mountain climbing activity? Not tired? Not Boring?? I will tell them, it is need to depends who you are going with. The person you followed, he or she will influence how you think of Moutain Climbing activity. Some people close book after when to Gunung Tahan and G7. It is immature, they think they are conquer all the mountain, actually no one can conquer the Mother Nature.
If they really have learned the true meaning of Outdoor activity, especially Mountain Climbing activity they will not to quit or closed book which is something they are passion and love. What we learned on outdoor activity is not whether how many mountain i had achieve, how high i had reached, how proud when i stand on the Peak. It is something regarding our self discipline, self determination, appreciate the people around us, team efforts, self study or working.
Mountain Climbing activity is a unseen activity to guided us become a hamble person. How to say it? It is because no matter how many times we visit to the mountain, its never know and records on our name. The Mountain will never know who you are eventhough you are famous or CEO of the company!
All these 3 years in ODA, i am lucky to get a chance to know ODA and know some greatest climbers in Malaysia. They are all LOW PROFILE!!! When I am visit their blog or and website, their content are all in sharing their experience rather than published how many mountain they conquer! In their dictionary, they is not such words of "conquering", but all is about "sharing"
In ODA, we are glad enough to have Lao Si as our great role model. Recently, she had start to write blog and shared with all people her experience in outdoor activity. However, i didn't saw her published how many mountain she had went eventhough she had 16 years experiences with Mountain Climbing and outdoor activity. More than hundreds of trip she had participate included Highest Mountain in Peninsula, Highest Mountain in South East Asia, Malaysia - G7 and others country Mountains!
When i meet with her Mountain Climbing friends at Perak. (Lan, Hasnor, Jupil, Batman, Arif, Asli, Anthony) they are all very hamble and that kind of people always appreciate. This is really make me realized that, what is called as "True Mountain Climbers". They not even mentined what mountain they have went, or show off who they are. But, they are shared with me their experience, teached us on the survival skills all the times when have chance to meet up.
Some people claims themselves as "True Mountain Climbers" in his or her blog, honestly i really feel sorry to them. I only can say they are immature and i hope one day they can truly understand what is Mountain Climbing activity and mountain climbers.
Yong Yap trip had really bring all of us in closer with each others again. We hand in hand pass through all the rivers crossing, Lodging area to make sure everyone are go safety and return back safety as well.
A picture says Thousands of words :
Thank You ODA, being with me all these years!
I am proud to know all of you in my life.
Impacts of Yong Yap, but she not even to complaints about it and finish the expedition! (Lao si leg)
Strong mentality and determination!

G7~~Yong Yap,
Hurray!!Finally reached the peak of YONG YAP---G7 man!! Congratulation to the trip members, especialy my self, because i am still the greenhorn in this activity.haha
I really shocked when i found that there were only 8 people in this trip, and only 2 participants, other 6 were committees. But at the end, only 1 participant that is me, as my housemate, Bee Hua have to quit due to need to work. It is really a motivation to me to train myself with go gym more frequent because i dont want to be the person who drag the team late. But.....I only manage to go gym (cycling) at the last few days before yong yap trip....luckily, the regular yoga and pilate learning seem helpful also .. at least along the trip the committes no need to wait me long...
The backpack:
Lao shi and Pang said that my back pack so heavy, i have to admitted that my backpack was heavier than the trip before. Since i didn't try both of their backpacks, so i really didn't know that how heavy were that, but i sure that, chian ni 's backpack was as heavy as mine. That is why i didn't complaint even one word.. When i carrying my backpack along the way to 1st campsite, i have been worried that i might cannot make it. But finally i reached to 1st campsite 'safely' with the heavy backpack, went through the logging and muddy trail in the rainny day.Voila!
The Tough day:
I agree with Andy that the most toughest day is the 2nd day during to the peak, as it is muddy and slope trail . Somemore, my right ankle was suffering from pain. May be because of my NEW shoes too New, and hard enough. Besides, the cooling almost kill my mentality determination too. No matter how, my mind kept telling myself, i can't be so unuseful, cannot let the committees wait me so long or dragged their time. However, i managed to reach to the peak. But it was indeed cool and felt rigid , so i cann't walk around the peak。 What i can see that time was..nothing but only the beatiful plant. After that, Lao shi and Pang told me that the scenery was hidden by the cloud..
The tough thing for me:
Went down the slope hill. I felt scare that i will lost control and rolling down. That is why the 2nd day i was full of mud on my body when going down from the peak as i used the 'sit' way to go down the slope part.Is that any skill when going down the slope hill?
The 3rd day-descending day
I fall down while crossing this bridge, of course i immediately grabbed the timber and luckily Fu yaw was there and helping me. Fortunately, 有惊无险。。:p
This day, my ankle pain indeed. My determination was being eaten by it. When i walked alone, i told myself that everyone were suffering the same thing, i must stand it and persuading myself that dont think about the pain and i sang to myself and looked around the trail, the sky to move my concentration on pain.! It worked...not so well actually, the pain still surrounding me.But at least can reduce the painful a little bit.:D
Summary:
This G7 expedition is a good experience for me as need to cross river, walk in rainning day and muddy trail, and agas too. Besides, i appreciate to all committees and Ms Lim catch me closer with you all. I enjoy with all of you though i have less talk ..hahaa. I talk less because i am not so familiar with all of you:) However, thank you ms lim, Pang, chian ni, Fu yaw, Andy, Ming rueng and Chee Shen in all of you have done on this expedition.
I am looking forward the coming Expedition!!

Gunung Yong Yap Dec 2008
Yeah, another G7, my first mission on 2009 is accomplishing G7. This is my third mount, hehe. This trip is tough lo. My knee almost breaks out. ODA first time been throw Christmas together. Although don have beautiful restaurant, delicious food, nice wine, but we had a warm situation, our favorite alcohol drink and with the right person.
First climbing day, we take 4wd to the kampong asli, lao shi de driving skills really “geng” o. the road is very slippy and some is beside the hills. 100% dangerous. The digging progress makes us think that we are so adventure. Hehe. The first rivercrossing is quit rush, the wider river at this trip. After still got some river we need cross by bridge, need well balancing. Our guide is second time climb this mountain o, cool ya, challenging. This time, when we become participants, we keep asking “still need walk how long”, “still far?” so funny, but the guide give us a great answer, “ I don remember” haha, we all pengsan. Actually we are more pro then the guide o. We can set up a fire o, the whether is bad, all the ground and tree are wet o. First night, we think guide will set up fire, at the end we all kena agas bite. First time we meet asli that don know set up fire and still use a lot of ours solid fuel, then at the second day, when ND,MR and FY at last success to make up a fire, what we mention in chinese“three carpenter become Zhu Ge Liang”. The guide feels shock and then tries to check it out, how we make it. Actually use mosquito coil also can avoid agas, but you know la, ODA guys have their great enthusiasm about setting up a fire. Second day, we had to make a decision whether want to camp at peak or not, finally the answer is we camp back to camp taha. When the bad situation is surrounding us, don hesitate and must be determine to make a right action, even to give up now, because as long that we still can breath, next time we still can make it happen, this is not the matter of chance, is a matter of choice. In this trip, I can learn a lot of skill and gain experience about decision making. On the way to the peak, the condition is 100% tough, the muddy trail is terrible the muddy is cover up the shoe, the trail is almost ascending about 60-70 degree, with the cool whether, skinny rain. At this moment, your mentality power should open turbo. So will exhaust your physical badly. Tell you a tips part of my mentality power is come from my team member, those suffering with you on the trip, you want to make sure they all can make it too, so keep telling yourself you can not be the one who shut down now. Like FY said, the journey is more important then destination. The connection among team member is more beautiful then the peak view. Next time go Cameron, must go to Gunung Brichang to the telekom tower, the view is peace and touching. Is not me, or you to make the trip success, is us who make the trip success, so cheers everybody. Here I want to wish ODA happy Cow Chinese New Year don forget to come take ang pau o, have a meaningful year to all the participants too. To my ‘friend’ at UK, has a sweet relationship o, hehe. For me, this year I want to change myself, don just said but just do it, I’m the person who know how to plan, but don know how to take action. Hehe… somebody help me. My boss and Lao Shi used to said me, like to do thing in silence, sometime must show to others what you can do and what you had done, so that you can get others opinion. But here, I’m great cos the leader seeing my hardwork. Hehe.
Recently I have a bad moment in my relationship, “haih, don know la”, this is the famous word when face to this question. This word means, I don want to think about it, but our mind just keep refreshing the question. May be is scare of the result, scare of being together again, and back to beginning, but the problem still there, scare of we already try our best to solve, but still has a scar. Got fellow said, failure is the path of success. People asking me what is the major problem, every time I give different excuses. May be I also not sure what is the problem. But to me, feeling is the keynote of this moment. Here this two songs, I like to listen, some of the lyrics is mean a lot to me, 卢学叡-早知道爱, 杨宗纬-重来好不好. Hope you like its… … Don worry this time no PRETONAS station le.

Yong Yap Trip
At first, I cannot participate in this trip due to some reason. But I still keep updating myself with the progress of this trip preparation. One night, I received lao shi’s message asking me whether still want to participate Yong Yap trip or not and my boss is ok with it. I was so shock and excited when received this message. I quickly ask permission from my grandmother and father. At first, both of them not allowed me to go with the reason I only discharged from hospital for few weeks only. I keep telling them very seldom to have this opportunity go to Yong Yap and I want to go. Finally, my grandmother allowed me to go with the condition I must drink all the soup that she cook for me later. That soup is cook from some Chinese medicine and is not nice to drink… My grandmother also helps me to persuade my father let me go. At last, I didn’t ask my father again, I just assume he allowed me to go. Hehe
The second part that I have deep impression is it’s been raining days for the whole days when we start proceed to the campsite. This is my second time to meet with rainy day in trip. The first time is when Sungai Dara trip with Lim’s family. But this time is totally different with last time. Last time we just walk for a while then will reached campsite. But his time we need to carry backpack and walk for about 5 or 6 hours to reach campsite. Along the way, I understand the power of determination and the importance of mentality prepared for each good or bad situation that we will face to. I keep telling myself to keep on moving no matter how tired I am. Everybody is keep on moving so that we can reached our campsite earlier, so how can I so selfish, only think of myself. We must always act as a TEAM!!!
River crossing is another part that I remember the most. When the first time I saw the trip planning, I got a little bit worry because there are about 30 river crossing. I am glad that I can experience river crossing for the first time. But another side I was scared of the river, I scared I will fell down in the river. Before river crossing, lao shi help each of us find a partner. One is with the experience and another don’t have so that the one have experience can help another when river crossing. Lao shi also teach us the way of river crossing and demo with Pang .I was pair up with Andy. He is nice and helpful. Each time he also helps me and wait for me when river crossing. Also didn’t forget Lao shi, Siew Ting, Chee Shen, Miing Rueng, Fu Yaw and Pooi Kuan who also helps me a lot when along the way.
Another part that I won’t forget also is when we on the way to the peak. The last 2 hours to reach is the toughest part for me in this trip. The trail is all the way up and full with mud. All around us is full with the mossy plant and the weather is cold. Luckily we made a right decision not to sleep at the peak. It starts raining at the last 2 hours before we reached peak. Me, Pooi Kuan and Andy keep moving without rain coat. But the more higher we move, the weather is colder with the rainy day. But finally I also reached Yong Yap peak safely and happily. Lao shi and Siew Ting is setting the flysheet while Chee Shen is cooking hot water for us. I start shiver…… After drink the hot water and wear rain coat, I still shivering. Even when I am eating, you can see my hand is also shivering. Lao shi start asking us to drink JD to let our body feel warm a bit. But my situation stills the same. Lao shi ask me to keep my hand warm at Siew Ting’s belly. But it doesn’t work for me. Lao shi take off her windbreaker for me to wear and hug me for a while to keep me warm. I feel better after this. After all of us reached peak and while we are eating the fried rice, we quickly take group photo and I start descend from peak. I feel better after I start moving, no more shiver. This is a part that I remember the most and I think I won’t forget it. Really thanks to everybody that helps me along the way to peak, especially Lao shi and Siew Ting. That night after we descend from peak, all of us sleep well at the campsite without disturb by agas.
Ps. Me and Lao shi disturb and kisses by agas previous night at campsite for the whole night
After we come down from Yong Yap, we stay a night at Cameron Highlands. That night, I think whole Cameron’s hotels are fully booked. We can’t get even a small room to stay. Finally we decide to sleep in the car. We get to park our car beside a golf field. We have a picnic at the golf field and all of us enjoy the picnic. We hang out until 3am only we sleep. I love the time that we hang out together after every trip. We talks about the trip. Each jokes, torture, small or big incidents… All this brings lots of memorable and fun part in my life.
Every small and big incident in this Yong Yap trip is meaningful for me. I will never get this experience without participate in mountain climbing. Although it is a tough trip for me, but it is fun and enjoyable trip too. Thanks to all the members - Lao shi, Siew Ting, Andy, Miing Rueng, Chee Shen, Fu Yaw and Pooi Kuan.
Thank You!! I love you guys so much...

Yong Yap - We Made It !!!
16 years plus now in mountain climbing, but i haven't completed G7. Some people laughed at me that why taking so long to complete the G7? Some admired my prolong spirit and determinations to complete G7. Well, i know these few years in mountain climbing life, I've learned and accumulated a valuable "believing asset"
The burning desire of finishing G7 is always there and high and i know along with ODA, completion of G7 is possible and it is getting closer and closer. Thanks ODA !!! Thanks to Fu Yaw, Chee Shen, Andy, Chian Nii, Siew Ting, Miing Rueng and Pooi Kuan on Yong Yap trip, each of your present have added more "colored" in my G7 bookmark.
Gunung Yong Yap, my 6th G7. The toughest G7 I've encountered!!!! (excluded Tahan)
Non stop raining expedition, endless river crossing, native dai ko 大哥 ask for car security fee, brought sugar instead of salt, skin infection after trip, freezing temperature at peak, hardworking sand flies chasing us non stop, sandals swept away by river, car stuck in mud, after trip skin treatment together ...... all these sounded painful, but i am sure that we have good laughs and have deposit more in our memories bank on all these occurrence.
The day when we stepped on Yong Yap peak, there is not much special feeling. However, weeks after we back from Yong Yap, I've been continuously talking about Yong Yap ever since then. (FYI, this is my 4th blog about Gunung Yong Yap.) I guess what Fu Yaw had stated previously in his blog is right, "Its the preparation stage till the end of the expedition consists the true meanings!!!
To be honest, Pooi Kuan shocked me. Her backpack is DAMN heavy on day 1, but i didn't hear a single sound from her. No words, just keep walking and crossing. 2nd day toward Yong Yap Peak, raining started to poured 2 hours before we reached the Peak, she just hike with her single layer clothes. No raincoat/jacket all the way up to Peak. The temperature during that time can freeze our fingers and muscle. She is superb!!!!
Chee Shen - Re-Union with ODA again after SPM. So glad with his return!!!! He's been like a personal guide to this aging adviser as well as to the rest whenever he is needed. His speed is like a bullet and he has created some worries on our native guide. On the last day, Chee Shen been named as our Yong Yap guide, and our native guide transferred himself to be sweeper. After few days hiking with Chee Shen, we think the native guide lost his confident and started to consider to quit as guide :)
Chian Nii - The sand flies souvenir on her leg, hand and face is the evidence of her enthusiasm on mountain climbing. Not many people will be as brave as her.... She had finished TWO G7 within the few months, always proud of her and GREAT WORKS!!!!
Fu Yaw - You did GREAT, Yong Yap Trophy goes to you!!!!!
A month planning on this expedition, although the peak didn't give us much visual, but it definitely have gave us lots of memories and have definitely tested our physical and mental endurance.
