2010 Gunung Liang East Liang West

也认识了新的脸孔Lip Onn,Kok Onn, Hai Feng,Woon Teen, Chuan Wei, Mok Ying, Chun Wei, Pei Yun, Hui Sim, Siew Moy, Boon Tzong. 还有ODA 的好朋友,En.Mohd Ramlan, En.Shamsuri, En.Arrif, Chee Loong, Kwang Leong, Simpson, Lim Vui, Wai Kit,Choong Ee, Hong Jie 和 Alistair.

ODA Committee:Sian Seong,Chian Nii, Siew Ting!!

ODA 下一站是Gunung Bunga Buah Expedition on July 17th-18th,2010!!!

Best Regards

Hi Guys, sorry for late feedback.

First of all i want to thanks Group two members, Simpson, Jonny, Vivian, Wai kit, Chian Nii and voon teen. GOod Job!! Hereby thanks to all ODA members and participants for this wonderful trip.

As this is my first mountain climbing, maybe i underestimate myself to overcome challenges for this 6000 feet Liang East West. Physical and Mental are not ready for it. But thanks to all those who help me (althought some i still dono thier names). Gives me courage and hope to proceed with one more step ahead; and finally too we all make up to the top. Thanks again to everyone.
Although after the trip my shoulder and leg sours, but i believe i gain more than that. Teamwork, determination, will power, all these experience are much more powerful than those motivational, self esteem course out there.

Good Job to ODA, and everyone that participate in Liang East West trip!!

Regards,

MY Tee

Tg Malim - Gunung Liang East West, May 28-30

Gunung Liang East West is 2nd time ODA bring participants to visit it. I still remember the first time we visit was 4 years ago on 2006 August. For my memory that time, the trails are very far and tough. I nearly want to cry out for walking so long hours non- stop. Besides walking in long hours, there are many leeches and tics we can’t avoid. That time, when we come back everyone has given a suggestion by not visit Gunung Liang East West again. Who know, few years later we think back the scenery and beauty of this Mountain, we really miss it. Finally we had decided to bring everyone come to visit this Mountain again.

On April 17-18, ODA and two friends are come to do pre- making on Gunung Liang East West in order to make sure the trails. Thanks to Fu Yaw arrange all the things for ODA to do pre- making and Barbeque section at night for Siew Moy, Mr Tan, Mr Tan Children, Jimmy, Chian Nii, Kenn, Si Hua,and Chu Yao. The pre- making members are included Laosi, Fu yaw, Bee Suan, Puffy, Kwang Leong and Chee Loong.

Before come to visit Gunung Liang East West trip, I had confirmed with ODA that I can’t join them due to company trip are from May 24- 28. But after confirmed with company the time we back to KL, I know I can’t skip the trip to Liang East West with everyone. Chee loong are keep remind me : ”hey, you don’t forgot come back on time join us to Liang East West trip. If Air Asia delay, u buy MASairline come back”. That is really made me laugh. Here, Thanks to Chee Loong waiting me and Bee Suan at KL, and send us Sg Dara Campsite.

As for Chong Ee, Kwang Leong, Chee Loong, Harry, Johnny, Alistair, Hong Jie, Sim.
You all already join ODA many trip. We have see u improve a lot too. At least, u all learns how to survive in the jungle. Help new members when in river crossing, cooking, shared the burden with members and even in hiking parts. I guess u all realized on the important of teamwork to make everything success. Hope u all will practice in real life on what have been learns in jungle.

Siew Moy, Mr Tan, Lip Onn, Kok On, Hai Feng, Woon Ting,Mok Ying, Pei Yu. This is the first time u all join ODA or maybe Mountain Climbing trip. I am sure in everyone of u mind might come out a lot of “why”??? Why so tough? Why I am here? What I am doing? No worry, this is the question will run out from u mind. But, I am sure u all enjoy in hiking and the funny members in trip. Thanks for trusted ODA and the friends who bring u come. Siew Moy - the one who always worry to delay us due to her physical. I can say, this is our responsibility to make sure everyone depart and come back safety from Mountain. As Mr Tan say, “in two days hiking Siew Moy already walked 10 years road”. This golden phrase come out from him has made me and Harry laugh all the way come down from 7-11 campsite. Salute on his patients, tolerate, love, respect to his wife.

ODA G7 members Vivian, Simpson and Wai Kit. Really long time didn’t hike with you all. Vivian last hike with ODA are 2009 Dec Gunung Ulu Sepat, Simpson last hike with ODA is 2009 Nov Gunung Korbu and Gayong. And Wai Kit last hike with ODA are 2009 Dec Gunung Ulu Sepat. Almost half years didn’t do hiking, however their mentality and physical still maintain. Every one of you still with happy character and always bring a lot of joy to all members. Thanks for bringing new friends come along. Let them know more on Mother Nature.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity thanks for ODA Advisor – Ms Lim and Trip Leader- Mr. See Sian Seong who really work hard and guidance in order to make whole trip successful. Not forgot Chian Nii, Jimmy, Bee Suan, Monica all the back to support ODA to make sure all the things has run smooth.

Thank U everyone and will see you all in coming expedition!!!! Take care everyone ;p

1st trip with ODA at year 2010-- gunung liang east west

By Chea Wai Kit

Forget mistakes. Forget failure. Forget everything except what you're going to do now and do it. Today is your lucky day.

Gunung Liang East West - 28 to 30 May 2010

LELW: The scent of the jungle

I came across this phrase after the trip, "love to hate". It was a title to an article written on hiking. The author enunciated all the obstacles and difficulties he faced throughout his hiking expedition, which he sees as the downsides. Yet despite all that, he loves it. Hence, love to hate.

His descriptions on the slippery trail, leeches and never ending wall of trek earned my empathy, especially after Liang East West where we have to summit with empty stomach due to time constraint which is by far the most unbearable for people with no extra fat to burn like me. I never fell on my backside this time, I always managed to grab on to something. There's this one time when i tried to grab hold of a trunk to prevent the fall, i got hooked on thorns. I can literally see the thorns tearing on my skin when I move my arm away as if it were tearing on a piece of cloth, the skin was dragged the furthest a human skin can be away from the flesh. Then of course blood oozing out. To be frank, that moment doesn't strike me as anything worth mentioning, I said nothing during the trip. I think to most of us, cuts and bruises of this sorts, bear no significance. Most of us will just wipe it off and continue our journey. It's almost like a norm that we are bound to get hurt in the mountain.

So, no. I don't think it's a downside, I don't think I would have any hates towards the slippery trail, leeches or the never ending trail. It's what i sign up for when i decided to come. One cannot be too careful here. If you fell down, stand up. If you wanna cry, cry then go on. That's the spirit!!

If it's not for Laoshi's post, I'd forget about the shred of disappointment i have when i reach the peak that is too foggy to see the view. Perhaps the sense of achievement upon reaching the peak and the breakfast is more than enough to make that disappointment slipped pass my mind. The milo and kaya bread i had that morning is the BEST i ever had!

Hui Sim and Jonny, enjoyed the time to 711 with you guys. Both of you are really inspiring and motivating. Hui Sim you're especially amazing, salute. I will always remember our faces when we reached the campsite in 20minutes from our resting point, skeptical, doubtful, then excited! We rock!! shhh...shh..

Alistair, you're such a lunatic!

Pei yun, glad you enjoyed it. I have so much respect for you, do you know that?

Harry aka Victor, my long lost brother, wahahaha.

Mr and Mrs Tan, enjoyed your company. Both of you are so likeable and "chu bi".

Lee Chee Loong, thanks for taking care of pei yun after she's been abandoned by me. :-)

The 85's, Steve, HaiFeng and SiuKat, walking with you three really cheer me up. Non stop jokes. Wei, how to look so young de leh? I had a good night sleep thanks to Tee and Onn, Kwan Leong for all the jungle talk. Wen Ting, i gave you back the nutmeg cream did i? You're really determined too even though you're so exhausted. Simpson, Vivian and Waikit, see you guys next trip. Your pants still with me oh waikit.

Thanks to ODA (lao shi, sss, pst, abs, chiannii) for organizing this wonderful trip. Bang sham and lan, for the great assistance and experience sharing. All group 3 members for bearing with me my fussiness towards food.

* everyone were so happy in the group photo cause the camera dropped and i can't get in. EVIL!

Hope all of you recover soon. You earned my respect.
The spirit and attitude is to be acquired, not born.

All the best, from Chong Ee.

2010 May 28 G.LELW 9 + 15 Hours Hike

By Kwee Hoon....
2010 April 14th - ODA almost withdraw LELW expedition from ODA activity calendar due to short of manpower support on this expedition, as PST, ABS, Monica and Jimmy confirmed they're unable to assist in this expedition. After long discussion with Sian Seong, trip leader INSISTED that no matter what, ODA will proceed once its been put in the activity calendar, because of his strong believe, all of us have the chance to visit LELW plus excellent trip planning. Being as ODA adviser, my role is to support whatever decision made by committee; Although schedule is very tight, but there is No Excuse, Only Solution in ODA
A few alternatives we've came up with such as: -
Reduce numbers of participants, seek for other experience, trustworthy members assistance. 2 person came across my mind which I know its time to call for extra hand on this expedition - Lee Chee Loong and Yu Kwan Leong. After few text message with them, checking on their own schedule, they confirmed to assist ODA on LELW expedition. 2 guys who I know they will always being as ODA backup, ODA Good Buddy in any situation.

2010 April 17th - Trip leader, PST, ABS, Monica, HFY, Puffy, LCL and YKL took off at 6am to Sg Dara campsite for LELW trip pre-marking. ODA last visit to this mountain was on 2006 with different committees.Mission been accomplished although some ODA being very ill after the pre-marking trip.
2010 May 1st after Bujang Melaka trip, ODA received another good news from Tapah members that they will be part of the LELW expedition, at the same time PST and ABS confirmed they will do "Connecting Journey" after their China Trip. Lots of Pre-Trip preparation tasks being done beside the pre-marking, such as Sian Seong and PST repairing flysheet during raining moment, hiding underneath to identify each leaking spot to touch up the flysheet with waterproof liquid; Pitch up all ODA 15 Domes to identify broken poles, and disconnected pole string; tested all imperfect stove and gaz lamp; Re-check ODA 1st Aids. All I can say is just ONE word "Thanks to Trip Leader, ODA Committees and 2 ODA Buddies for all the Pre-trip Preparations".....
All of us who came back from LELW, know that it's a tough mountain. A mountain that really tested our physical fitness, mentality, patience and will power !!!! I believe for all who reached LELW Peak feel quite disappointing as there is no magnificent view awaiting and yet slippery trail defeated some of ours descending confident. Of course for our strong, speedy guys/gals like Vivian Lim Vui, Hui Sim, Alistair, Siu Kat, Simpson, Chong Ee and Wai Kit, slippery trail is no longer an issue for experienced hikers like you all. Thanks for helping others carrying the backpacks, assisting them on the whole expedition. As for 1st timer or our new joined members such as Ah Moy, Boon Tzong, Pei Yu, Woon Teen, Mok Ying, Steve Lo, Hai Feng, Kok Onn, Lip Onn, salute to each of your strong determination to complete the expedition even though its long trail, empty stomach, slippery trail, soar legs, and heavy loads situation.
It is an expedition which let us witness a healthy marriage, relationship and friendship should be. Seeing Boon Tzong and Ah Moy walking shoulder to shoulder, hands holding hands, stepping out each small step together for the whole 9 ++ hours inspired me that the true meaning of life partner.
The Apology face showed on Ah Moy's face whenever we've eye contact. I realize that she will blame herself on slowing the whole group. In fact, it's not a racing expedition, it's a teamwork expedition. What is the glory for being the 1st man to reach destination while our team mate still struggling at the back???? What is the meaning for mountain climbing when others still running up and down to assist and yet we are sitting around, relaxing and blaming others being slow??? Luckily this is something not happening in ODA expedition.....
Seeing Johnny and Mok Ying being as brothers, walking together, resting together, continue together reminds me of "Companionship" in the jungle. Although Mok Ying is having a very difficult time which smiles have disappear on his face, but Johnny in the other hand as a good buddy still making lots of jokes with us hoping it will cheer up Mok Ying.... I will always remember "leng chai bo lat and Not Ugly U Lat" jokes .....
Hopefully Mok Ying will realize that when situation is tough, soar face will not ease the whole situation, but happy feeling, jokes will reduce the pain.
An expedition that has breaks ODA records which we have the longest hike ever within One day. The last few hours after dark, before reaching car park seems like never ending trail. The sticking together situation,  early depart group insist of waiting at car park for others is the energy that driven us, the last group to keep walking and reach car park no matter what. Cause we know our friends are waiting for us OUT there!!!!
I remember there is a same phrase we share during the night walk moment was "I can't feel my toes, it's numb!!!" Each time we finish this sentence, we continue to walk again. We've reaching another stages of self compromise and self tolerance.
2010 May 28th LELW expedition has ended, I hope this expedition will able serve a good life lesson for each of us. Always remember that no matter what happen externally, the internal will power is the key that determine the outcome!!!!
My Best Wishes to all LELW Expedition Members/Buddies. It's an honor to complete the expedition with each of you... Cheers!!!!

2010 May 28th - 30th G. Liang East Liang West

2010 Gunung Liang East Liang West - a tough trip but yet a good trip!

This is my third time been here, the first and second time only reach to Sg Dara Campsite. Before trip, when me and Bee Suan went to Jugra, I heard Bee Suan said that this mountain is tough, like she said, it's all the way up up up. On Wednesday night, me and Lao Shi copy some good songs lyrics on the groundsheet to share with others during trip. First time doing this, very happy and enjoy writing it. After that, have a great time of listening these good songs, lyrics.

This trip a bit different as there is one married couple joining us. First time meet Ah Moy is at Titi Gong which she is very friendly, always smiles and I not understand at all when she speaks Hakka. Second time is during Liang East West pre-marking trip, we have BBQ here. She brings along her husband and kid. Some of us have a water war with her husband. So when i know that Ah Moy and Mr Tan is joining us to the trip, feel quite happy and admire of her brave. She never been any mountain before... During this trip, i see some different things which never see at other trip - Ah Moy holding on her husband all the way up from 7-11 campsite to peak and descends to car park. Mr Tan will still smiling or turn around check on her condition... Both of them are a good role model of husband & wife. When walking with them, i see how they help each other, how they keep on walking, not giving up, no negative thinking, joking, using tongkat one step by another step... Congratulates Ah Moy, YOU DID IT!! And great to know that after the trip, you are not afraid of mountain and still will join us.

Thanks to my group leader - Simpson helping to manage the whole group, contribute jokes and also being our group chef. Vivian and Wai Kit, G7 group, hehe... Thanks for help carrying the loads, also lend your hands to others whenever they need it. Jonny, enjoy the part walking with you and Tee. 'U Lat or Bo Lat', is you insist we are joking on other people, but actually I am only joking on you larh... Voon Teen, you look small, but actually you are not small, I mean backpack larh, thanks for helping cut vege, carrying group items... Tee, after the trip, I believed that you do learn something from the trip, hope you will still come and join us in the coming trip..

Lip Onn, Steve, Hai Feng, Pei Yun - nice to meet you at the trip. This is your first trip, but you had faces different situation such as raining, long hours of hike, night walks and etc. You all are great!

Harry, Siu Kat, Chong Ee, Hui Sim, Alistair - great that you all still joining us to trip and currently already able and will helps others, carry loads, share with others...

Chee Loong and Kwang Leong, group 1 & 3 leader - Thanks for assisting us... You guys always be our supporter, really appreciate it.

Last but not least, thanks to ODA Adviser, Lao Shi who had been giving full support and guidance to us. Thanks to trip leader Sian Seong for the great trip planning, running up and down check on every member and assist; Pang and Bee Suan come directly after back from China, although tired, but still joining, assisting and supporting the team. Also not forget Jimmy and Monica who are giving us their support although can't join us for the trip.

Thanks every member for the everything during trip - all the sour, sweet, bite and spicy memory =p Wish everybody healthy and stay happy always

Gunung Liang East West 28/05-30/05

By Siu Kat
this is the 3rd time i join the trip since match 2010. Before i start go for this trip, my mum ask me:"why still join this again, don't go anymore la". I understand why she think like that because worry me get hurt anymore plus for her it is not worth to pay for buying the pain, dirty stuff back. Also, they might thinking i am crazy because i join ODA trip once each month. Seems that they want me to slow down, don't too rush like a child.

May be they right, i should take some rest for now, because don't want make them worry again about me. However, during that period i need to train myself again specially my stamina, since everytime hiking i always easy run out of stamina to walk though again. haha

During this trip, i really want to thanks Abang Syam, Lan, and Arif who prepare such a wonderful dinner for the first night camp. Also share their experience about the hiking trip to us even we ask the same question again and again.

Then again, lets talk about my group 1 member:
Kwang Leong - one of the group 1 leader who take care all of us always, worry many things such as anything missing, is somebody else are illness or injurt, or got any1 is unable to move forward he had to try his best to encouragge them stand up and go forward. All and all these things can see his true heart...even can say like our father who worry this and that....haha...(just kidding)

Bee Suan - one of the group 1 leader, also take care of us very well, only different is she is the only girl in our group. I wonder are we always trouble(or even say bully) her because 'fall in' the guys gang....haha

Alistair - first time saw this name i though is a girl, but seems make me dissapoint liao...haha....for him i only know he got join the gunung irau since last year only.

Lip Onn - althought first time join but i can see he very tough 1, never say cannot or give up words. Compare with him my first time trip really feel abit sucks...haha. Good job man! After hear your accident happen when nearly reach the check point, just wanna ask you is everything ok?

Never the last our 至尊双宝:
Kok Onn and Hai Feng - Kok Onn, also call as Steve, who was always bring joy to us during the trips. And Hai Feng, i was thinking the song 'Kongfu Fighting' to describe him as he got train martial act. Thank You for helping in all the way, remember next time join the trip please prepare full spec ah....haha..

Also, for other group members: Simson, Wai Kit, Sim, Siew Ting, Jenny, Laosi, Harry, Johnny....and many people, it is nice to meet you in this trip. Hope to see you all next time, and keep in tough la..

Gunung Liang West-My 1st ever mountain hiking trip

By Lip Onn

hi all,i also like to share my first time join oda to Gunung Liang West.Although i nearly lost my life on this trip, but the experience i get and learn is very valuable and something which my whole life cannot forget~~And in here I really need to thanks to 2 person which come to my call for help in fast response is Wai Kit and SimSon , if not of them, and some lucky situation that i am able to hold on to root tree on the ground that avoid me from dropping down to dam.My whole body was already on the air while i hold the root as my life depend on it. I could never be here and type and share my experience here if i couldnt withstand long enough.

I also like to say thank you to ODA for giving me a chance to join thistrip and guide me for this 1st ever experience for mountain hiking. This life threatening experience will not stop me from climbing again, but of course i need some time to recover from this trauma and shock.

I hope to see u all and join ODa trip again. Oda members and ppl who join is really professional and helpful.Keep on the good work ya,ODA Boleh!

G.East Trip with 26 Awesome Members!!!

2010 May 28th-30th, a group 26 awesome members which formed by participants and ODA Committees was visited G.Liang East West and returned to KL safety. Thanks for the cooperation from every participants , and helping hand from all ODA supporters, and En.Lan & En.Sham , and of course ODA Committees to make this trip a great success.. !!

This trip, there was some few significant event and new experience for me.
For me, I think Long hour of Hiking must be the most significant for this trip.
Day2 - 9hours hike to 7-11 Campsite,
Day 3 - 15hours(8am-10.45pm) hike including way to East West Peak, and descent all the way from peak to car park.
Before this trip, the longest hike I experienced was 12hours, but this time I broke my own record, 15 HOURS !! Not everybody can stand with 15hours of hike especially for first timer like Hai Feng, Kok On, Woon Teen, Pei Yun, Lip Onn, Mok Ying, Siew Moy, and Boon Zhong.
And for first timer, G.Liang East West will be very tough for you as you are still new and inexperienced. But all of you still manage to carried backpack and finally stand on the peak of this mountain, YOU GUYS ARE GREAT !!
During hiking, I believed that Mentality are much more important than physical fitness. If you depend on physical fitness, you will down when you used up all your energy, but If your mentality is strong, eventhough you used up all your energy, you still able to proceed, Every step you move forward, it mean you are a step closer to your target your destination.

Secondly, during the first night at Sg.Dara campsite, we been told by Arrif that a huge tree was blocked the road. Therefore, we decided to went out and clear the trail so that Arrif can went back to Tapah and Chee Loong's car able to enter to campsite.
Together with Miss Lim, Chian Ni, Puffy, Lan, Sham, Arrif, and Kwang Leong, we spent almost 1hour to clear the trail, and before we leave, we had make sure that Arrif's car and Lee Chee Loong's car are able to pass the place.
From this incident, I had learned something from 3 of them(Lan, Sham, and Arrif). For example, which part of the tree we should cut to reduced our work and make sure cars can pass through it, what should we aware of, and etc. Not only during hiking activities, in other activities oso, I felt that is good to work together with experienced as we able to learn new skills from them and improve ourselves.
