Chabang Trip 16 October 2009
I had a wonderful time climbing Gunung Chabang! Actually, didn't expect it to be tougher than Gunung Irau, which we climbed on Merdeka Day. I couldn't find much information from the internet about Gunung Chabang this time. I only know that the starting is very steep. The rest was for us to find out on the day itself. Then, on the way to Simpang Pulai, Kenn told us that Chabang is tougher than Irau..I'm was like =.='' Cham-lo!But it was a great experience! A first-hand experience of night-time climbing and heavy downpour at the same time. The view upon reaching the peak is quite magical. So proud that we all can reach the 1st peak! So a few of us reach the peak around 4pm and reach back at the campsite at around 11+pm..a total of 14 hours we spent on Gunung chabang for a day!WOWww..hahaha..Amazing! ^.^ And we had the pleasure of listening to Chu Hang,Kenn, Simpson and Jonny singing on the way up to the peak..hahaa(Aiya..we should arrange for a K-session one day la!) Passing the backpack and walking stick to 1 another also wana cry out,"Thunder-thunder-thunder Cat!" =.=''' So funny! Thanks for entertaining us!! Thanks to All the ODA committee for bringing us to Gunung Chabang..without ur effort and help, we couldn't have made it up and down Gunung Chabang.*thumbs up* Lao-shi,Chian Nii, Bee Suan, Siew Ting.
Lao-shi: ya-lor.been secretly training.I jog in place in the room for 15mins and bodycombat for 15 mins 3 times a week before the trip.I'm very lazy when it comes to exercising..but since I have the goal to reach the peak so I have to make some sacrifice. :)
Pooi Kuan: Thanks for ensuring we have adequate food throughout the trip and taking photos for us. And most importantly willing to be our group leader again for this trip! Very happy!

Fu-Yaw & Andy: Another 2 ODA committee. Thanks for staying back with us to lead us back to the campsite safely.Very courageous!
Wai-Kit: Thanks for stopping at place to be my brake when i slide down from the slippery slope.Very helpful!
Kenn: Thanks for the ride, entertainment and pointing out all the branches blocking us on the way down.Very good!
H'ng & Jonny: Thanks for joining us in this trip..1st time will always be unforgettable and we made it! Yay!
Simpson: Thanks for dragging me for training, mountain climbing, and accompanying me on the way down! :p
Chong Ee: Thanks for the great photos!
Chu Hang,Chee Long,Chu Yao,Han-Yuk,Cikgu Mus,Shafiq: Great to know u all!

2009 oct 17-19th Chabang Trip Feedback
2009 oct 17-19th Chabang Trip Feedback You ask me if I love you, and I choke on my reply. I'd rather hurt you honestly, than mislead you with a lie And who am I to judge you on what you say or do I'm only just beginning to see the real you. “And sometimes when we touch. The honesty's too much And I have to close my eyes, and hide. I wanna hold you till I die, till we both break down, and cry. I want to hold you till the fear in me subsides.” Romance in all its strategy has me battling with my prideBut though the insecurity some tenderness survies Im just another writer still trapped with in my truths A hesitant prize fighter still trapped with in my youth.
At times Id likes to hold you and drive you to your knees At times Id likes to break through, and hold you endlessly
This song I wish to dedicated to ODA.. Is my feeling depress on the chabang trip.. chabang trip make a lot of meaning to me.. About my behavior and attitude.. I should think deeply on it.. In ODA, I’m not the clever, smart, good leadership, good management skills, patient and willingness committees, but I’m always will be the last man you can count on.. May be I’m not make a lot of change to ODA, but ODA make me change a lot, improve a lot in my life, but may be not in ODA, I feel regret on it.. FY always said to me, what LFY said to us are always the good advise and for our good purpose.. yes, I said to him, I know it since I know LFY for tis 4 years in ODA, if she don care of us, she would said so much.. Is already endless time I thank her, so I just gonna keep deeply in my heart.. “one time is Lao Shi, one life also my Lao shi” no matter what going on the future,
I really want to thank to Simpson, Kenn, Velerie, Heng, Jonny and Wai Kit, especially Fu Yaw, you all give full cooperate to make us can safely go out from the chabang trip.. the moment really is difficulties, and unpredictable, we don know whether the trail are correct or not, cos is at night and heavy rain.. we scare whether out teammate can make it through or not, too cold or will fall down, but finally we can hand with hand hold together walk out to the car park.. really unforgettable, we all should remember it for live ya..
Chong Ee,
Chian Nii, good job, don forget what thing u had done well on the trip, keep it and improve it. Bee Suan, now can handle things well, know how to make laugh to people le o.. haha..Siew Ting, good to hav u bak,
Lastly thx to Chabang's participants cos believing in ODA.. thx..we grow up together..
Thx to Cikgu Mus and Syafiq, everytime climb with u all, giv me a lot of advise..

Chabang Revisited
For me this Chabang Trip is another experience for me. Rains, river crossings, and night walk. Makes me recall back of 2008 Gunung Yong Yap trip. ALthough the trip is not easy, but somehow the feeling is good..just like this Chabang trip. I guess every difficulty there are some goodness in it. Just like Coconut water, the juice is COLD, but the meat is HOT. So to balance it just drink and eat the meat. For the our group that walked behind that night --- first man and the last man walking in the group at night is not easy...thanks to Andy and Simpson n Kenn behind there--you are the MAN.... And Wai Kit you are a good guy :)..keep it up. You improve alot Valerie, keep it up too. Johnny, next time remember bring windbreaker ya. and H'ng hope that you learn something in this trip....Determination and the perseverance can overcome anything. Just do it!!
Reminder:..next time bring raincoat..not sweater ya..haha. We might not need it, but just in case, we do not know what will happen during rains and night walk ya.
Another thing that makes this trip an unforgetable one is the briefing at a.m. Reminds me of there are still alot of me to improve and learn. Really thank you LFY. I always believe your main purpose is for our good. Besides that the experience at KFC really is hard to forget scene ya.....Haha....
Last but not least, wish that one day all of us can reach Chabang peak together and take many many photos .....right?? --Matthew...but not need peak also got alot d..haha..great job ya..untill then, take care and see you guys soon!!!
回想到以前的G.Chabang Trip. 2009

The last visit to Chabang had permanently left some impacts on me which I've twisted my ankle joint and taken 6 hours to descend from Check Point 3 to car park and after that trip, ODA had taken 3 months holiday from conducting mountain climbing trip. As until today, I still wanted to Thank Pang, Andy and Gah Gee for escorted me all the way during the injury. All of us who visited Chabang, know that it is very difficult to descend, the 3 angels during that time have make sure I've been taken care of without any further fall by holding tight my hand, arm and waist on each step, in order to look after my step.... they have fallen countless times. Still the same word.... THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!
What I can recall is, these 5 person are always surrounded ODA Hilux, busy with their tasks, packing, cooking, reminding each of us on next tasks. After the trip, while I am laying on the sofa having fever and the rest having dinner at some place else... these 5 person have clean all the 6 domes, numbers of groundsheet, re-checking all equipments to ensure in good condition for next trip and placed the items back in order. In fact, these are what they do for every ODA trip. Where they got all the strength to keep on doing the same thing again and again.... I guess mainly is came from the energy and motivation given by the all of the participants. I know, they always feel glad to see friends who follow along to trip had got some self inspiration, pick up good values after mountain climbing expedition. Most motivating is, they get to see their friends started to be more and more enthusiast with outdoor activities and able to seek out all kind of weekend outdoor activities by themselves beside following ODA to mountain only. One day, I do hope to follow some of you on your weekend outdoor activity.
In here, I would like to express my gratitude to a very special ODA friend during Chabang trip. Lee Chee Loong..... I remember when during heavy rain pour, I told him to stay as last man - He ok. Half way, when i slipped on the river edges - He gave out his hand. Half Way, Puffy having difficulty to descend on certain parts - He Carried Her. Last river crossing, I stuck in the riverbank - He carried Puffy from my arm and bring her crossed. When we reach car park, once again I told him to accompany us to check on the remaining friends in the jungle - He Ok too. He is a guy who will always wear a yellow shirt without ODA logo on every trip, and a Black ODA Taman Negara shirt after trip..... I do hope he will change his mind, reschedule his work and join Korbu-Gaying trip and I do hope someday he will stick ODA logo on his yellow shirt as well... Lee Chee Loong - THANK YOU.6 bottles - Chan He Men, Simpson Lee, Tan Chu Yao.... I think is a good combination.
Whenever 3 of you are around, the whole trip will turn out to be very very fun and full with jokes. Your Jokes = Painkiller. It always created big impacts to all of us which enable each of us forgot about the toughness of the trail cause we keep laughing. Kenn and Simpson, thanks for watching the 2nd group on the last descend.... being as a last man is tension and not many capable to do so..... I believe Kenn motto of "We Come Together, We Reach Together" had motivated all of us just keep walking without thinking too much at the moment. Pooi Kuan - You are awesome!!! Thanks for leading everyone on the 2nd night cooking, and cleaning. It's not an easy task to grouped up everyone is such situation when all was tired/exhausted. Simpson and Kenn demand you as their group leader has a true meaning....I'm indeed very looking forward to hike and complete G7 along with you.

What I gotta say about the wonderful G.Chabang
"where the hell is the end, where the hell is the checkpoint, where everyone stops?"
"how come i can hear the guys so clearly but all i could see are rocks, trees, and a trail that is so steep like an endless wall infront of my face??"
Perhaps that's what make my Datuk trip a less enjoyable one compare to this one. Yup, i enjoyed the Chabang trip, if you don't already notice it from my tone. Everything seems different this time. The sky bluer, the trees greener... ;p

There was not much to talk about for the ascending of the mountain, the trees, the trails, the ground, the soil, they all looked pretty much the same. We go up, we take 5, we take another 5, lunch break and we continue to go up. If any, it's us. We are the one who feel differently.
I couldn't agree more with Cikgu Mus, he said,
"It's not here (pointing to the body), it's here (pointing to his head)".
It's the mind power that takes us up there, nothing else.
Having said that, i must not forget to mention that descending the mountain while it's raining so heavily, and in the dark some more, was one heck of an experience. The little river that i can't even remember crossing became one that definitely made an impression by it's size. The trail we went up end up like a longkang and i only realized it's the same trail we used after like 15 minutes of walking and stepping my feet deep in the longkang. It's indeed a memorable and adventurous experience. I could still remember distinctively how we all crave for the lil piece of chocolate while taking a break in the rain. You can't ask for it and you can't plan, it just happened. That's what make this trip so unique and different from the other trips. So thanks to the rain, thanks to the bunch of people who came at 5am and beat us to the hike, and thanks to ODA for not changing our plan.
Lastly I must say I was so happy to be able to reach our endpoint, thanks to everyone especially cheeloong that's been watching my back the whole trip. I deeply appreciate all the effort done by ODA and ms laoshi to have the trip successfully carried out. Thanks to my group who is responsible for my breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Enjoyed every moment of the trip with you guys!!

-kenn, so sorry u lao sai, get well soon
-hanyuk, where's the gas? in my backpack. can you take it out? ( sitting, sitting, sitting, not moving. we look at each other, n break into laugher)
-waikit, providing a great entertainment and topic. about what? ur fair n smooth legs laaaaa
-chuyaw, for taking my photos...even when i dont want to...hehe. n the soya is really awesome.
-pooikuan, sorry u have to do all the works coz we all went n sleep...sorry n thanks lot.

And, if any of you guys feel like challenging your eyes...click and read. (oh ya, there's a sequence to follow, go left, then down then left then down...see the numbers la...haha)
Thanks much.
All regards, by Matt ( aka ma diao, aka chong ee, aka fake simpson)

Gunung Chabang Trip
Thank you, ODA Committee, I have to say that without you all, we won't had a great time.
My left knee was injured just before the Gunung Chabang trip. As a result, I felt very painful when I was climbing down the mountain, Well, I still want to enjoy the exciting moment (climbing during night time and heavy downpour), so I had been mumbling: "My leg is good, I am enjoying the trip now" until we reached our campsite. :-)
I would like to express my gratitude to following people:
Ken - fetching me home, and your singing also
Mathew - thanks for photo taking
Bee Suan - for your guidance
Simpson - joked a lot, and your singing also
and very important person, Ms. Lim - thanks for your sharing and guidance
In conclusion: I am glad that I had joined this Gunung Chabang Trip.
