Last Trip of Year 2011 to G. Batu Puteh

It is our last trip on year 2011...... It is a special trip on year 2011……

There are many uncertain reasons which keep appear in my head when the invitation sent out. Many scenes flash back in my head, plus the unstoppable rain, self evaluation on my current condition...... All this had been pull me back from Batu Puteh in my heart for many times. But there is a strong reason which brings me there, ODA is there, our members are there, of course I want to be there too!!!

Still the same scene, same people, but our heart holds tightly on each other. We become more alert, act more fast, together hand on hand, we did it!

Firstly give applause to our advisor who had been done lots of mind game, effort and time to make sure she done her best so that the whole trip would run smooth and safely. And then the honour goes to the trip leader, OPY who had done the planning and preparation for the whole trip in the mean while still having her exam! Other than that, I believe she had put a lot of stress on herself on this trip. Excellent!! And thanks to our ODA committees Pang, Adrian, Bee Suan, Gah Gee and Pek Hiong for the fully support and back up on the preparation of this trip.

A special thanks to Lao Shi, Mr Tan and Vivian for sending us go and come back safely although after 4 days 3 nights trip which is quite tiring. While some of us already start sleep tightly in the car, they still have to drive us back! Thanks so much for it… Adrian and Lam also had been played an important role during the whole trip. Without them who willing to carry the camera, their skilful technique, we can’t see any photo now. Thanks for carrying the heavy and valuable camera there, capture down all the beautiful and memorable moment in the trip!

Now is already few weeks after trip, but whenever there is a flash back memory to Batu Puteh trip, still think that it is an unbelievable trip….. There are too many things happen in this 4 days 3 nights trip. We met 2 big groups of hikers on the same day but with different attitude, in this case, we knows which type we would like and we wanna be, which outdoor spirit we have to learn.

Our long-waited native guide who had delayed our departure time, I left out my pouch bag at river side plus a fresh new route which make me think negative again…. But there is a team full of spirit and strong support there, very soon, I am there be positive with high spirit too!!! Thanks to all the team members for not giving up, keep the spirit high and cooperation given, we did it together! Without you all, we might not did it that way. Without Vivian and Mr Tan, Puffy might not be there on the peak; without Vivian, Mr Tan, JF, Cikgu Wong, we might use up more time and effort to cross the river; Without everyone of you-Lao Shi, Pang, OPY, Adrian, JL, Vivian, Mr Tan, JF, Chok Ping, Lam, Cikgu Wong, Puffy, there won't be so much fun in the trip...

Thank you everyone, we have a blessed and good ending on year 2011 with great trip! Year 2012 had passed half a month, let's create our own miracle and found out more about yourself - change the impossible to possible!

Two Attempt to Gunung Bt Putih within 56 Days

From 2011 Nov 7th until Dec 23rd, it is 53 days in between.

53 days in between, raining is a non stop daily event.

A half way pulled back from G. Batu Putih Expedition, a last minute deferred G.Benom Expedition due to the severe weather, there is One thing in the mind on the 53 days - "Is it wise decision to proceed on upcoming Bt Putih trip?"

The rain and rain remind each of us well of 2009 G7 completion moment, the last few G7, Ulu Sepat, Korbu/Gayong, Yong Yap. Prior departing to each destination, the backpack been packed and packed. From used to be bringing along a raincoat till bringing extra raincoats, extra flysheet, extra emergency blanket...etc due to the non stop raining.

Discussion after discussion with the ODAs, the determination to re-visit and completed Bt Putih once again is high, as a remark of Year 2011 ODA Expeditions Closing.

Checklist go through in details and repeated many times, the heart of "Plan For the Best, Prepare For the Worst" is once again alarming.

Discouraging and worries from parents, family were once again knocking on ODA's door beside the weather challenge on this Bt Putih expedition.

Last minute adds on another member, Cikgu Wong who just summits Bt Putih recently somehow injected a positive energy into the group. Seeing a new blood being so enthusiasm in this trip is a motivation and reminder to ODA that we shall turn our fear to force although November incident image is still printed fresh in each our memory.

To maximize our chance to complete the expedition and be more precarious during this time of the year with sudden and heavy rain fall most of the time, hiring a local guide is a must although this mountain been visited by ODA for many times during the past few years. Somehow, the believe that the locals is the people who knows the changes of the geographical environment the most on their area compare to the outsider who posses sophisticated equipments to study a condition of a location with fancy data.

Our return to Kuala Woh Reservoir somehow shock some of the locals there. Probably they don't think that it can be that soon they get to see the same face, same car appear again at their area. Until today, sometimes the unbelievable feeling occur still, that although we been defeated by the weather and river on 2011 November visit to this mountain, but the bounced back happen real quick with double extra preparation by trip leader along with the full support from the ODA committees and extra precautions been taken. It is in fact unbelievable feeling that Bt Putih had been completed once again withinn such a short period of time. Most importantly, ODA has a group of true friends who always have their faith on ODA and trusted ODA on each single decision to achieve the expedition completion objective.

Long weekend expedition bumping with other groups is always expected. But bumping with another 2 different large groups is a bit out of expectation. Worries occur as it will be 50++ people share the same campground and with the present of Puffy will create uncomfortable feeling and inconvenient to the Muslim hikers/Students from UTM. A special thanks to them who keeps on making arrangement with us to ensure there is enough space for everyone and really appreciated their tolerance and understanding toward the present of Puffy who sometimes create delays when there's tough terrain and obstacle in front. Most importantly, they have put aside their religion's barriers to accept there is a forbidden animal around them. You guys are awesome !!!!

Hope to bump in with you guys again in any of the mountain trip in future.

It is always joyful when bumping with group of hikers who posses true outdoor spirit, willing to share out experiences and space rather than group of hikers who try to show off their fitness to hike in fast pace, try to get the best campground without considering there are still groups behind who need space to rest too. It is sad to hear that the group of Chinese aging hikers didn't share out the space with the late arrive UTM group at cave checkpoint. We are consider lucky enough to decide to camp at Camp Balak on 1st night to avoid the crowd.

1st night mosquito and sand flies attack at camp balak had really beat us up although Chok Ping and the rest of the guys had tried real hard to start the fire. Hopefully Chok Ping and guys won't feel too much of defeated, as the guide himself ran to us to ask for mosquito coil as he failed to start up the fire too.

Its is a sucessful trip with adds on joys and laugh despite prior expedition weather is challenging issues. It is more challenging when time is wasted due to the 2 hours wait and mis-communication trail with the guide. However, the challenges were been overcome one by one with the strong determination posses by each member to ensure we catch up the loss hours no matter in what condition.

It is joyful as :-
Coconut drop all of the sudden; The returned to retrieve porch bag by JF and Chian Nii; the continues rice cooking by JF as a reminder lesson to him; the continues offer washing after meal by Cikgu Wong and Lum; the strong wind and chill at S'pore camp; the visit and revisit cave checkpoint; the climb up to Gunung Kakparang; the petai piling at food stall;

Lim Vui to hold on the ropes, JF bringing each to cross over as the river started to risen is touching while the rest act as standby team.

Special thanks to each of the member on Puffy's behalf, to carry her when there is tough obstacle to allow her to proceed and truly appreciated each of your love on her.... she is a blessed pet.

There is a need to mentioned - Special thanks to Lim Vui and Mr Tan, to carry Puffy over on those mission impossible part for her.

Without you both, it is mission impossible for Puffy to complete Bt Putih !!!!

There's time, question arisen on why keep on in this activity, especially each time when walking on trail that seem never ending, and when during very tight schedule while packing to depart. Surprisingly, there is always ability to continue walking till completion and surprisingly the ability to squeeze out some time to let ourselves been once again enjoy the torture and endurance of hiking is always there.

There is no special answer on WHY keeps on?

The only answer is always "The Love of This Activity" and

The TRUST on a group of sincere members who we know that we can count on each to overcome each obstacle and
The Will Power/Determination that developed over the years from this activty.

It is once again, Bt Putih is been missed.....

Hopefully, when someday ODA re-visited Bt Putih again, each of us who present in this expedition will be reunion once again in this great mountain.

G.Batu Puteh- An Inspirational Trip

Here's a pretty late post after days been backed from G.Batu Puteh Trip, finally I turned on the PC and start typing on the keyboard.

This is usually the time of year our collective human minds reflect on the past 12 months of our lives.
This trip is my 14th hiking trip since I joined ODA. Even myself was suprised to realise that it has been 2 years, like my first trip to Datuk was just happened yesterday.

So if you ask me how I feel on the trip, it's not to say I am wordless on it, I should say I have too much feelings towards this trip.There have been joys too great to be described in words.

The night we came back from the mountain, I didn't able to make myself to sleep.
Everything is still so unbelievable. I guess it was the happiness that generate the excitements in me.
Life on my December year 2011 was pretty like taking a roller coster ride, it never stop.
As a student, besides exam the only thing that I need to take care of, I've been to many new places as well, fucntions, gatherings, etc.

It is an ''On-The-Go Month'', so the plan of getting myself well-trainned physically before trip at first was pretty much been set aside at last.
Why would I be so nervous about the trip?
It is known as a tough mountain and secondly, this was my first hike that required 4 days and 3 nights time to complete it. Before the trip, it was unimaginable to what extect my mentality would reach to keep my spirit high.

Everything was been done in one week's time before the trip.
To make this happen there's three honourable mentions.
One goes to our Advisor, who definitely has given us the biggest help in every way on the preparations prior trip. Second time given the opporturnity for being a trip leader,she is still the one who took away the IM from the word-IMPOSSIBLE, and proved to us- ''When there's a will, there's always a way''. She is a force to be reckoned with, her patience, down-to-earth paired with her insisting, cleared & firm thinking,the courage and the strength and the beliefs that she kept holding on nomatter what which is enchanting. I continue to appreciate her depth of experience on this activity

Number two goes to our Committees- Siew Ting, Chian Nii, Jeanette, Adrian who has done a cracking job on the tasks assigned and the supports given by Pek Hiong & Gah Gee who didn't manage to join us but we always have their warmth hearted wishes along. And to Puffy who always show the great spirit!!!

Number three goes to the members- Thanks LaoShi, Vivian and Mr Tan who provided us a safe ride on the past few days & drove along the way down to the town from Kuala Woh to top up the foods. And the thanks also goes to JF, Ms Wong, Chok Ping & Lam, it's the cooperations of everyone that made a successful trip.

The time was so much delayed even in day 1 itself. Having a young mind and an easily give up attitude in me, when the watch shown 11 am , I was already there thinking that high possibility it will be another failed trip to Batu Puteh due to the 3 hours delayed, and the new trail that we totally had no idea how long it will take us from one place to another.
When the schedule seems all messed up, we still proceed in quick steps despite the timing was uncertain at that point.

At 6.00 p.m. of day 3, we manage to make it to the peak.

We met with rain on our way out during day 4 and the river crossing was still a sensitive issue to us.

The planned 1 hour journey from the river side to Kuala Woh had taken us half an hour, maybe it's due to the happiness or the excitement that we are heading home.
6.00 p.m. on day 4, it was absolutely an inpirational moment. 4 days passed like just a fleeting glimpse.
Along the way , I was counting the blessings.
It's raining season, even the policeman had warned us on the safety prior trip because of the bad weather, but unexpectedly the rain only catched us up on the very last past of trip.
And with great teammates along, the trip was full with laughters which helped alot to chase away the tiredess.
Overall, everything went smoothly, what can we say? Im sure, everyone was happy on the completion too.

Sometimes life hits us right smack in the eyes- you can be facing a moment that is literally a life or death situation or having the best time of your life, it's either you choose to stay at the height of happiness or the depth of despair.
We are on this big wheel that goes round and round and it never stops, there's something scary about that and there must also be something beautiful about it.

We should endeavour to enjoy as many amazing experiences as we can find, rather than fear of the bad times slipping in because they were part of the tapestry of life.

The Game is somehow, for those who never quit.

2011 comes to an end, and 2012 is about to start.

The great "White Stone" expedition 23rd-26th December

It was a day after my final exam, the trip to Batu Puteh. Nervousness overwhelmed me as I know I wasn't that ready for the trip yet, from what I've heard and learnt from others who went before me. It's definitely tougher than what it seems from the pictures. Because you'll never know how it felt until you try it yourself. Every trip to a mountain is blessed with great teammates. Eventhough there's anxiety but it will gradually lessen because the team shared it amongst each and everyone, and covered up the mix feelings, made it a great experience.

This is a really blessed trip because the whether was so fine that we see blue skies most of the time. It only rained when we were descending to the river from camp balak, which is a bit tough because of the slippery path throughout. The river was the main concern in this trip because we wouldn't want any accident happen again. But overall, everyone performed quite well and we all enjoyed the trip. Everyone still put on a big smile though it was so tiring, that's the outdoor spirit!

Not able to sleep at the Gua and also the peak is a minor disappointment because we still manage to reach both of them and rest at a fairly nice campsite. Celebrating Christmas with a hike is definitely a new experience. Because while everyone else is enjoying their life in shopping malls and fine dining in high class restaurant, we have simple food but we gained even better experience and emotions compared to them. So, why regret?

Also, would personally like to thank all the committees for making this trip happen, all the participants, the Aslis as well, and I believe in a trip like this, everyone is equal, only the role is different. So great that we all enjoyed and gained from the trip!

2011 Nov 4th-7th G. Batu Puteh

It’s almost a week back from trip. And it’s Batu Puteh trip! Which only hear the name already can make me shivering and tension, but yet excited and waiting for the coming of trip. It’s a trip which required lots of mentality, physical and skills and knowledge preparation trip. And also it’s our PTT 2!!!

It’s indeed an unforgettable trip for every one of us. Thanks every one for not letting off your hands, pulling hard on each other, acting fast at the critical moment, being calm and listening to instruction, take care and concern to each other…..

Despite the incident that happened, although we have to change our plan at last to come down at the same day, but we had gone through the process together. Thanks to Vivian, Mr Tan, JF, Chok Ping and Lam for being those who work hard help us to find trail, open trail, clear the fallen trees… There are many sweats and energies been used at the whole process.
And our girl team -Sim Mei, Wai San and Li Ling who have been share the loads, laugh and sweats together. Oh ya, another thing is, we contribute our bloods together to those mosquitoes during our rest time!

Not forget to thanks our Sifu, En Lan, Arif, Zubir, Anthony, Lai, Azimat and Hasnol. Thanks all the Sifu for sharing their knowledge to us, teach us the skills that we wish to learn, prepare the Barbeque party to welcome us and let us have a sleep at En Zubir’s house. The appearance of you all at that moment, I know that I can rely, believe and ensure you all will reach them. Thanks so much although I know this word is not enough compare with what you all have paid out. It will always keep inside the heart. A Lots and lots and lots of preparation work been done by Lao Shi, Pek Hiong, Pang, OPY and Jeannette to ensure we have a smooth trip. Thousand thanks Lao Shi and Pek Hiong for the pages of trip planning. Behind those pages, there are many discussions and editing been done. Other than that, due to It’s a 4 days long trip, a lots of preparation need to be done. Thanks for all the ODAs, Pang, OPY, Jeanette, GG, SS, ABS and Adrian for all the support, efforts and wishes. Thank for arrange your time to done the preparation job although every one of you were busy with the tones of works and study.
Another thing is that thanks to the driver Lao Shi, Mr Tan and Vivian who been so tired, but still drive for hours and ensure we reach to the destination and come back safely. Lam and Sim Mei, thanks for helping us took down all those memorable moment, to keep in our memory book although you all had been so tired.

It’s a new page of experience and knowledge been learn during this trip. I hope that everyone would have learn something from this experience and it would some how helps in your life.
Batu Puteh, we'll see you again! Everyone, right? =)

2011 Aug 13th -15th Yong Belar Expedition- we did it!

Gunung Yong Belar.....

It all started when I wrote it as part of my New Year's Resolution that I wished to go back to this moutain again before the end of this year.
Finally...... Its a complete trip for us!!

From the first attempt which with alots of worries, January Pre-Marking trip and until this trip...

Its our 3rd attempt within a year!
While recalling back, each time with different people, different weather & trail condition, but only a hope which is to summit and go home safely, scene after scene, from the 240 staircases as the starting point, the tough paip walking part, night walk up to the peak....etc. each and everyword is the products of alots of memories....mixed feeling.
Thanks for the insist, the motivations, before this, i cant believe i able stand on this moutain peak looking down.

Its the same again this border, different people around but same topic as jokes will still been built up....

For the first mile of the paip walking, it was still the toughest.

2o + hours of hike in within 48 hours.....

Which is the mentality that plays the most important part in helping ourself to keep proceeding.
A drop in temperature as we go higher in altitude meant that we cannot stop to rest for too long or we'll get really cold and slow down easily. Our legs were sore and every step just seems to get harder and harder.
One by one, the many famous features of the Yong Belar mountain peak began to reveal themselves.
It was a sight to behold.

Amidst the bad trail condition along the way from the dam to the road junction, special condition arisen on the vehicle which almost leaving us stranded at the road side.

Remain steadfast, though billion of thoughts running in her mind but without panicking and she did not forget to calm us down.

Long hours of hiking and we even night walking up to the peak, but still we continued, determined to make it to the top under the energy low moment, low temperature on the peak caused of the strong wind blowing at night but with super nice weather and the temperature is perfect in this whole trip compared to what ive heard people describing what it used to be.

Looking back, there were amazing views looking down from the peak and the surrounding area, this round the clouds did not obstruct some of the views which was a little exciting.
Its a tough, but a blessed trip.

Its a trip that showing how's my progress until today since my first visited the same moutain.
A trip which indeed takes courage to recall back in details.
Its infact a complete trip and its our first PTT.
Physically run out, fall after fall, there's a room for improvement no matter physically and mentality.
Its been years ODA been formed, tons of stories along it's epic journey til today.
Its nothing but the strong determination which walked the team for years.
And prior the trip, the last thing which been pin-pointed out to me was credibility, determination.

How determine you are in doing a thing is what decide how far you can go.

Thing that been pin-pointed out along the way is the way to get all things well-managed.
A backpack if well packed, it would be able to fit in many things. Just depend on how we going to arrange things. Its not the amount but its how well time been managed count.

Why things that been said is not align with the action???
Its either be responsible and do it with heart, but not just keep saying how much its been appreciated with the mouth but come out with thousand of excuses.
Heard it, said that i know it, noted are nothing, a thank you for this is pointless.
Learn it by heart, its a process, takes time, just the matter of how long i would take to change it from the heart but not for the sake of just doing it for temporary.
Only for this, a Thank You would be meaningful.

Dont take things for granted!!!!!

I still remembered, someone been telling me before my first attempt on Yong belar : ''If u wish to know do u really love hiking, try on this moutain, u will know yourself better......''
I enjoy this activity.
Her true passion, however, is hiking.

2011 July 15th - 17th Gunung Yong Belar

It’s been weeks after Yong Belar trip… But I still miss the cold wind up there at Yong Belar peak, the shiny star on the sky, the beautiful scenery of mountain range, blue blue sky, the shadow of people climbing there, muddy trails, pipes trail, the temperature of sitting together, the muscle pain, the feel of walking together, the laughing sound…

Thanks god and everyone’s blessing, we have a very nice weather for the whole trip. Mr Sun took good care of us.

After two years, I am back to Yong Belar again… And it’s Pre-Tahan training again!!! Before the trip, not much training been done, feel worry about everything…. The day before depart to Yong Belar, whole day brain is like stucking, many times I think it is blank.

It's a tough trip, August 2010, unable to reach Yong Belar due can't locate the route; second attempt on January 2011, after few rounds of walking, finally get the other way to Yong Belar... Very thanks to Lao Shi, Pang, Bee Suan, OPY, Adrian, Vivian for walking so many roads, blaze trail, ascend and descend, under the heavy rain, and many more others obstacle, and at last, you guys get the route!

I am happy that this time I am able to participate the trip, weather is good, everyone reach to the peak together, and Puffy too!!! It's her first completed G7... Congratulates and thanks to all the members, Vivian, Simpson, Mr Tan, JF, Liang Mao, Wai Kit and Wai San, for all the supports, laughing points, walking together moments, sharing temperature, foods moments... Also thanks adviser Lao Shi and trip leader Bee Suan for a great planning, monitoring and preparation, we have a more than enough well trip. Sure, not forget ODAs Pang, OPY, Adrian, Jeanette and Puffy for all the efforts and precious moment, I had a great trip.

It's been two years since my last G7, many seems familiar and yet unfamiliar scene had found in this trip... Pictures and pictures comes out in my mind whenever i saw any familiar scene... It reminds me of many things, and i miss it!! During this trip i had found out some of my points which need to be really improve, change and also get really to see a little bit more inside me.

Thanks everyone! We have got a successful trip, a memorable trip, a beautiful trip... Oops...forget to thanks Adrian for shooting down the process of us reaching the peak and come back safely. A good job and it's really nice and there are many 'feels' in the photo! Thanks =p

My first G7 trip – G.Yong Belar Jul 15-17th 2011

Hooray, first of all, CONGRATULATION to everyone for completed G7. Erm…..This is my first G7 mountain and also first pre-tahan training in year of 2011. Gunung Yong Belar is located at 3 states of Pahang/Perak/Kelantan which the highest is 7156 feet. It takes about 12 hours climb to peak and 9 hour to go down. The route is considers very very tough and challenges to me.

Before the trip, I just registered to trip leader that I would like to join without consider much even I knew that this is very tough trip. In my mind, I told myself that I want to challenges myself. I felt that the way of my thinking changes a lot compared to first time to G.Irau. Still remembered that when I first time join ODA to G.Irau, when laosi invite me to join, I straight reject to laosi even she strongly encourage me and told me that this is nice mountain and beautiful view. After careful interpretation from her, I will start to think a lot and many worry about this and that... This is ME before G.Irau trip. Luckily is laosi provides me advice and chance, and my life start to change after this G.Irau trip. Thousand thanks you to laosi - Ms Lim Kwee Hoon. You are always is the people who cheer up my life.

In this trip, I assigned to become group leader and this is my first time to handle group in the mountain. I felt tension when laosi told me because lack of confidence to guide a group people. Anyway, thanks laosi for give me opportunity to learn how to guide a group. I think I didn’t play well function as a group leader while in the mountain. Hope that I will improve myself for next time. Any mistake I made, all group 2 members, please forgive me and thanks for the cooperation from yours. Not to forget thanks to ODA committee – Laosi, Pang, Chian Nii, OPY and Bee Suan who give me advise and teach me before, during and after trip. Really appreciate for the help… Thanks you very much!!!!

A compulsory briefing is a must for every 1^st timer G7 participants. Thanks to laosi and ODA committees to conduct a briefing to us. Much information obtains from this briefing such as what we need to prepare for this trip, training is a must before trip, view of G.Yong Belar, teamwork and self discipline needed during trip and etc… When everyone said G.Yong Belar is a very tough mountain, I felt nothing. While in the briefing, Pang mentions that 70 degree, I start to imagine how tough of this mountain. At the end, the imagination is different from experience it myself. Imagine is more tough than experience.

Before trip, as I know, everybody was busy with training themselves with hiking, jogging, fitness, swimming and… For me, before 1 week of YB trip, I go G.nuang and Banting fitness centre to train myself. This is last minutes training done for prepare to YB. Haha! Paiseh…Finally, not enough training prepared and caused of slow down my steps.

Finally, the day we waiting for long time were come, we gathered at Tmn Bahagia on Friday night and take about 4 hour to reach our destination Cameron Highland. Then, we overnight at outside of the local product shop named “88”. The next day, we wake up on 5am to continue our drive journey to Blue Valley Campsite. We need to pass by the 4 wheel road which the road consist of many small big rocks and rugged mountain road. At this time, I feel that laosi is a powerful, brave and capable people. She drives ODA hilux to bring us pass by this 4 wheel road. Hope that I can learn this spirit from laosi.

Next, we need start our hike to YB peak. Oh yes, tough journey was started.

1^st challenges - 252 steps of staircase

These stairs consist of very big step of staircase and the most difficult path for me. I walked use my hands and legs same like puffy walk in this path. Really super super tired and killed me.

2^nd challenges – pipes road
Pipes road was another difficult path for me because the pipes slippery (scared to fall down) and slow down my steps towards. At this pipes road, few of us can’t follow others speed and walked wrong way for 2 times. Then, Pang very serious told us this is pre-tahan training, can’t play play there. You all need to speed up and follow the people in front of you, can’t let the front people far away from you. She also said that no matter you are fall down, legs pain and whatever, you also need to speed up. I understand that if she didn’t remind us, it will affect whole group delay the time or can’t reach peak. Thanks Pang to remind us and you are a good leader.

3^rd challenges – Muddy trail
For me, this muddy trail is still under condition of acceptable. For every mountain hiking also will pass by this muddy trail and just depend to how deep only. I can say that don’t think too much when walk in this muddy trail. It examine how fast we response to our action. What I learnt from laosi while in the Irau trip is “敢敢踩”.......

What I learn from this G7 trip? Ermmmmmm, let me think think…… My hiking purpose is to experience the journey of hiking and make decision how should I walk for the next step. It also examine me how persist of my decision and think before act, not follow mood or feeling. I think it same as our human everyday’s life. “Persist in the end will be the successful person”. As for this tough trip, I experiences that although it is very tough, exhausting, tiring, scaring walked at dark or walked alone, I keep telling myself that I want to persist until the end and reach the most beautiful view at peak. Do let others people say to you “WELL DONE, YOU CAN DO IT”. So that, mentality MUST act together with physically in order to continue the journey. However, teamwork, skill, knowledge and self-discipline also play an important role. We must train ourselves with good attitude and behavior. It represents “YOU”.

2010 Aug 13th - 15th - ODA 5th visit to this mountain

A team of 11 people, unable to crossed over the fern obstacle at the begining of the trail, been forced to aborted the expedition on day 1.

Being as the trail lead on the expedition, the guilty feeling of failed to identify the right trail is something that been carry along for the past few months.

It's an unexpected failed mission because for the past 4 successful attempt to this mountain, everything just happened without much of surprises such as trail just missing in the middle of no where.

2011 Jan 7th - 9th - Pre-Marking on this trail been conducted with A team of 7 people after gathered enough information on the new trail that hikers been using after ODA last visit.

Weather wasn't at our side, with a few missed turn at the begining, but we were able to pushed until Camp Periuk on Day 1 and able to clearly identified the right trail for this mountain.

A special thanks to Lim Vui for all the trail blazing moment and helps on carrying ODA's pets on certain areas which was out of Puffy's ability to cross over.

2011 15th - 17th

A Team of 15 members, 21 hours of hike within 48 hours.

Finally we are once again summitted G.Yong Belar at 20:45pm.

It's late reaching, scary moment when walking in dark, energy reaching its lowest level, or deficit level. The only explanation that we're once again able to sleep at G.Yong Belar peak was each of the member's great efforts, teamwork, looking after each other and determination. Thanks to all the guys that carried heavy load, extra H2O and tent to make sure the whole expedition is supported with enough food and comfort rest.

The scene the been remembered the most was the quiet and dark moment when torchlight been turned off while "Taking 5" in the middle of no where, everyone's was silent and thinking how long more we're able to see the stars hanging on the sky, taking off our wet hiking boots, enjoying a nice hot drink or tuck in ourselves into the warm sleeping bag.

The whole expedition, we're been blessed with dry weather and having a group of members who had great common understanding.

After all, an enjoyable and successful expedition not only relied on nice mountain, fine weather, it is as well as relied on competence members, great planning and members who stayed behind the scene with all the supports provided.

It ain't easy to complete an expedition, because it involves with a firmed decision making to be part of it, to get ready ourselve with proper equipments for different mountain's criteria, to finished the expedition itself in fit condition, strong mentality and return ourselve to our family in good condition.

It is even tougher to be the planner and supported team, to ensure not just only good trip planning, but as well as needed to ensure appropiate equipments, food, transportation. With reasonable time frame for completion, afforadable cost and carry-able loads.

In additional, it is no longer just human to complete the expedition, but ODA today's had once again crossing another milestone of realizing a Pet's - Puffy ODA Lim to complete her 1st G7 in her life.

A new post, means a trip has been completed.

Still suffering frm the itchiness since the trip finished last week. Still has to get on with school and balanced up life. But something is definitely different. Something which can't be explained and described with words. My first G7 experience. Indeed, it's really a G7. 12hrs in, 9 out. A preparation for Tahan next year. A training. But good thing is we were blessed with really nice weather all along the trip!

This trip has been a critical one for me as well. Knowing that it's a G7, everything from how we handle stuff to completing this trip is different. Speed, speed and speed. Night hike in a mountain like this is never easy and its very insecure for me. The feeling of shivering from head to toe like anything is quite cool sometimes but never in long term. Speed is one thing. Lookout for everyone in this trip is another new thing I've learnt. Always make sure everybody is near to each other and no one is left behind! And most important of all, bringing the camera that heavy up YB is again a challenge! who knows its going to Tahan next year? haha.. It's definitely done a great job in getting us good pictures and good battery life!

Always have to thank Laoshi, Pang, ABS, ACN, for the senior lectures. It was really beneficial for me and its always good to hear comments and ajaran from seniors! Appreciate it a lot! not forgetting blessings and spirits of other ODA's in overseas, OPY, Jeannette and all the participants! Thankx Group 1 member for being so funny and helpful! Can't finish the trip without the cooperation from you all.

A visit to Sg Lembing 24-26th June 2011…….

Sg Lembing, this considers my second visit. This mountain reminds me of my first time hiking in the past 2 years. I still remembered that we go 5 people by vios without overnight. We depart on 11pm from Kuala Lumpur and arrive there around 3.30pm. We sleep inside the car and brush our teeth at hall. Then, start our hiking at 5pm, everybody look “blur blur” face and legs can’t stand well since no enough sleep. In our mind, it is worth because can have a nice sunrise view. We miss the rainbow waterfall at first time.

The feeling for first time and second time is different cause of we go with friend that we know each other for the first time. While for the second time, I join ODA with such group of people that from different background, education, age, work, attitude and many many more. I realize that with different people to same mountain, will get different output and feeling.

Sg Lembing, the famous place to visit is rainbow waterfall and Bukit Panorama. This rainbow waterfalls need to take 1 and half hour 4-wheel car. Due to the rugged mountain, everybody sway here and there inside the car even some people hit their head, leg until “black green” color. What makes me admire is our friend “yuan yuan” still can sleep comfortable inside the car. After the 4 wheel car, we need to walk and climb the forest around 1 hour to reach our destination. It’s not easy as you think but special stimulation.

Rainbow Waterfall

The beauty and quiet sound of rainbow waterfall make me feel relax and comfortable. The water fall from a height swirling down, it’s like a rain. I really enjoy it a lot with rest my mind. What make me so curious is while we sit at right hand side that without daylight, we can’t see the rainbow appeared. Otherwise, when move to left hand side, the rainbow stick on the rock. This is how magic of the rainbow waterfall. The main reason occurs this situation is激涌的山水自高处倾泻，飞倾的瀑布衝擊在凹凸的岩石上時，溅成无数水珠，經日光折射，幻名為彩虹瀑布.

Sunrise view from Bukit Panorama

There is not much change at Bukit Panorama. The beauty of sunrise and view of cloud are so attractive. Hiking to this Bukit Panorama is just day hike trip without carrying heavy backpack. This is the most relax trip that just takes about 40 minutes to reach viewpoint of Bukit Panorama. The path and stair is relatively easy to hike and it takes 969 steps to go up and down respectively. Bukit Panorama is really beautiful and good place to see the sunrise with a comfortable environment. Unfortunately, laosi, OPY and Puffy ODA Lim can’t have a fun with us during day hike. We only can share the nice photo with them.

Every trip we got new thing to learn, share and accept it. Sharing is caring. I learnt a lot from this trip such as cooperation and helping each other is the most important that we need to standby anytime no matter in what situation. These 3 days 2 night trip allowed us to relax our mind and have a leisure lifestyle. I enjoyed a lot during this trip with eat and sleep that I can’t do it at normal workday. Besides that, it also a good chance to chit chat with everyone, sharing funny stories and talk “cooling” jokes to improve our good friend relationship.

我的第一次爬山就是Gunung Stong Trip.

这座山就让我想起以前的自己，没爬过山的我。记得在2008年那时，刚学院毕业就踏入社会找了第一份工在Banting Ecsso Station 为会计书记，做不久几个月。。有一天晚上接到朋友的一通电话，问我想不想做Parttime 在一间小小的医药房？唔。。有Partime 才做两小时的工。。不错吧。。就这样我的生活就这样的开始了。当时，我的想法就是我的生活就是这样过一生。简简单单的过，不必烦恼，不必担心，没有要求。我的生活就是做工，回家，睡觉。。这样的生活我相信每个人都有过，而我自己也很少出外门，也不爱出外门跟朋友们交流，聚会等等。在医药房也做了几个月，就有一天我朋友约我去爬山。我的第一的疑问和心态是带着好奇的心问我朋友，爬山是不是用绳子爬上去的？？身上需要带些甚么嘛？跟谁去？这座山真的能让我回想到过去的自己。因为Gunung Stong让我在次再次的参与爬山的活动。
The mountain reminds me of my past, I never climb any mountain before. I remember in 2008 when I just graduated I found a first job in Banting Ecsso Station as accounting clerk . . One night a friend, asked if I wanted to do Parttime job in a clinic? Well. . Two hours for part time work. . Pretty good. . My life began. At that time, I thought that my life will remain the same, simple, not too worry, there is no requirement. My life is work, home, sleep. . This kind of life I believe everyone has had, and I rarely go out, do not like to socialize with friends, or participate in any event and so on. After work at the clinic for few months, there is one day my friend invited me to mountain climbing. My first question is with a curious mind and heart to ask my friends, use climbing rope to climb it is ? ? What to bring??? With Who? Gunung Stong always make me brought back memories....

我加入了ODA有四年了，爬了不少座的山。每一次参与都是跟很多来自不同的背景，学历，年龄，职业，和不同的性格的参与者。唯一一样的就是。。“一起爬山到顶峰”每一座山都有他的特别和美景。而Gunung Stong 的特别就是他拥有七层的瀑布，日出，在Campsite Baha 可以看着那遥远的山景。让我觉得好舒服，好温软。只可惜，我们去不到Campsite Baha 过一夜。Campsite Baha 真的很美，地方大，又有的看日出。。。没关系，这次看不到，下次我们一定看得到。。。因为，这座山的出名度也来也红。。系统也一直的在改变。报名费，放车费，森林票等等。还有就是我很不认同G的说法，Puffy 不能上山，因为经过外边的每一个人的投票，真的不公平！！不过，老师时常告诉我们，来到别人的地方，就要尊重他们。比起以前我们真的很幸运。
I joined ODA four years, went to numbers of mountain. Every trip, there are many from different backgrounds, education, age, occupation, and the different character of the participants. The only thing is the same. . "climbed to the summit, " Every mountain has its specialty and views. Gunung Stong specialty is that it has seven steps waterfalls, sunrise, distant mountain view from Campsite Baha. Made me feel so comfortable, good and gentle everytime I starred at it. Unfortunately, we did not camp at Campsite Baha this trip. Campsite Baha really beautiful, great place, and also see the sunrise. . . However, It does not matter, next time we will see it. . . Because the mountain is well known . . System has been keep changing. Registration fee, parking fare, tickets and so forest entrance fee. I do not agree with Guide there to say, Puffy is not allow to enter the mountains, really not fair! ! However, teachers often told us that we are at someone's else place, we must respect them.

Gunung Stong 的路程，没有甚么变，瀑布还是这么的美，这么的吸引人。当我走到我以前的路段，都会出现一些画面在那。好怀念。。。那些人，那些食物，那晚的汤圆，瞄瞄走不动，Yan Mum 和 Kent 一路带她走，直到晚上才到Campsite Baha.那晚大家都把晚餐准备好了，那时刻大家的心情很担心，直到她到了的那一刻。。。哈哈！！大家的心情都高兴了起来。。。好感动！！(刚刚去打开以前的照片，原来我去过了两次Gunung Stong) 这些画面是不会在重来，只能收在心里。而这一次，第一次在Gunung Stong night walk, 真的有不错的感觉，不辛的是Wee Lee 不小心跌了一脚，伤到了眼角。让大家都很操及。多谢Simpson 扶他到Campsite.

Gunung Stong trail, there is not much changes, the beauty of waterfalls, still so attractive. Pictures after picture appear in front of me, reminded on previous trips scenarios. I really miss. . . Those people, the food, the night of the glutinous rice balls, Miao Miao walk, Yan Mum and Kent all the way taking care of her, until the night before they reached Campsite Baha. That night we get the dinner ready, and that moment everyone's feelings are concerned Until the moment she reaching to us. . . Ha ha! ! Everyone's mood is happy again. . . Touching! ! (Just to open the previous photos, the original I've been to Gunung Stong twice) all these picture is not going to appear again, but only stay close at heart. This time, the first time in Gunung Stong night walk, really good feeling, Wee Lee accidentally fell, and hurt his eyes. Everyone is worried and Thank you Simpson helped him to Campsite.

G. Angsi Expedition

Yet, another journey has started for me. But one thing I found out was that whenever I'm going back to climb a mountain, my heart just can't stop pacing up, thinking what's next and what's going to come next. Well, taking photos are one of my task during trip like these, it's a new style of improving my skills and to train myself. Thanks again to the trip leader for organizing this wonderful trip for all of us. Including committees and of course participants who joined this unforgettable trip! Though some of you might be new, including me myself, its a whole new level of experience than any other things you do in life. No one's going to climb a mountain when they are free, unless there's something so special in you which pushes you to do it. so don't worry, you're normal =)

Every trip there will be something new for us to learn, and every trip I accomplished, I would promise myself to love mother nature more, sharing it to my friends who can't climb mountain and telling them how i felt whenever rubbish are simply left in the jungle or river, burning of plastic and stuff, it's all absurdity.

Again, special thanks to Laoshi, committees that helped me along the way, and all of you great participants!

我想了整整一个星期多，我真的不知道要怎么写这次的感言。。。不知如何开始写。。。我只好把自己给关在房间里。。。。。

十二月份老师，我和Chian Nii. 三个人去做Premaking Gunung Angsi。也是我第一次低达到这里。跟了ODA这么多年，也爬了不少座山。怎么还会有第一次呢？哈哈！！这也不出奇啦。有些时候是因为时间的问题，或者是命运的问题。（命运在玩弄人吗？）Premaking 过后，还有几个月就要准备时间表和工具和道具。本以为想时间还很长，有很多时间。可是，不知不觉时间也过的好快。还有一个月就是要去Gunung Angsi 了。也给我觉得很压力，日历一天一天的在我眼里的撕去，心情也一天的比一天的繁重。我怎么啦？？担心吗？。。。最后，我还是选择用冷静的心情去面对。。在这期间，要谢谢老师，Pang, Chian Nii, Phei Ying, Adrian and Sian Seong. 一直的在努力，精神，贡献和支持。

2011 Apr 08th, 那一天晚上，大家都在准备食物，工具和道具。在这种时间，时刻，人群，空气，哪个气氛, 力量。。跟以往的气氛不一样了。我怎么啦？Pang, Ming Rueng, Andy, Fu Yaw, Huey Woon, Yee Jin, GG，Chen Shen。。。时间每一年每一天每一分每一秒都在改变。时间不能重回吗？（哈哈！！我想的太天真了啦）时间怎么能重回呢? 。。。。。。。。。。？？

Gunung Angsi 2011 Apr 09th-10th, 每当我参与每次的爬山活动，终会有一个愿头。安全的到达,安全的到家，要大家平安的到家。一个最间单的愿望。。组长 Group 1, 2, 3 你的安排都很好。只是，我们要把食物好好的供用。

This consider my second visit to G.ANGSI, finally, this round, I able to reach the peak ,enjoy the very wonderful view from the side with everyone and it feels UBER COOL!!!

Seeing all the returning friends during trip,that feeling is so much more than just GREAT!! And everyone of u has contributed and given all of us big help to give us a safe ride although when the sleepiness and tiredness were somehow quite bothering. Much appreciated! THANKS!!

THANKS to our Trip Leader- BeeSuan for putting in all of the efforts to make sure another successful trip being conducted in this wonderful year.

And A REAL THANK YOU to all ODA COMMITEES whom i really learnt alot from .

A BIG THANK YOU to our Advisor, for all the guidances and helps, reminders, truly appreciate all the things been taught before, during and after trip.

Looking at the photos which speak a thousand words, THANKS to our photographers who has again given us very nice capture in this trip.

Footing in the first day was considered smooth, ofcause also due to the kind weather. But the second day trail was abit challenging and things got harder when we met with the heavy rain.

How clearly it showed us that the 'teacher' in this activity is none other than the Mother Nature.

Albeit the location is somewhere near the town, but we were still being rewarded with a very nice night city view, starry night and in the morning, warmth hearted scenery was what we got.

This round, the fun thing was to have so many future accountants to be in a group.
Really glad to meet EACH AND EVERYONE OF U.
Despite having quite a few first timers, but the high spirit and excitements that all u have before and during the trip is IMPRESSIVE!!!

Days before trip I receieved few questions such as, where can we buy groundsheets?? etc etc, only i realised how important communication is to make sure everything will go smooth.
Thanks so much for shooting out the questions to clear up ur doubts as it has created a better concern in me that what doubts would the first timer usually have?? How, and what else i could do to help so that they could have better expectation before trip and they can get themselves well-prepared??

For some of u, u might think that u will prefer day hike, ya ,u were so right to say that the journey is not too long, definitely we able to finish it within one day and without the need of carrying heavy backpack, stay over night ,etc.
But this's exactly the right question- why an overnight trip still be conducted?

Is walking in the wilderness,keep on move in the jungle are what's hiking , this OUTDOOR ACTIVITY all about?
Everything you need in that few days are on your back. We carried few days worth of things with us with us and stayed in inns further up in the mountains.

It's actually a golden lesson in joys of living simply.
It's a compilation of different knowledges ,which can improve the techniques to get everything set in a better way. As physically and mentality arent everything.
Cooperation,helping each other and true support to each other in that few days which come from within are somehow very important doesnt matter under any situation.
This gives us the whole picture of what it is like to be in moutain,away from town, which can be hardly imaginable before the first hike.

It reminds me that,for once i have such thought in me too,I said to myself “I will never go on a mountain trip. I have no interest ,I dont like to stay in the jungle and i cant do it”
And i truly understand where's the dislike of staying overnight feeling coming from.

Just like many people would have asked, why are u go hiking so often?? what's the fun behind it??? it is so tough!!!! So uncomfortable for staying in the jungle.
When u start appreciate the value in many different things, skills u learnt from each trip, despite its the same place being re-visited, it's where u will find the reason of what has kept the hikers' enthusiasm toward this activity higher and higher.

We are in the process of learning new things, accepting, this was ur first trip and U DID IT, and seeing myself has slowly accepted the way to live in the jungle, continuously return to the moutain once awhile,which because ive learnt alots, and after trips until today,Im still learning....so much more to learn, to improve while exploring. Im sure it would be the same for u too to have many more times to come in the future !!

There's a saying- sharing is caring, and this is the main objective of conducting trips by ODA, which is to share the experiences, knowledges with more and more people out there, with this trip, it makes me understand even more the true joys of sharing good thing to people.
When one able to share something u feel good about to some other people u care, and they appreciate it and they enjoy that new thing as well.... the feeling is superb!!!

Very glad to hear that all of u have fun in this trip which brought to me an excitement to SEE EACH AND EVERYONE OF U AGAIN in the future trips!!!!

As for 2011 Feb ODA Gunung Irau - It's a SUPERB trip.....

A superb trip that not just happen naturally.

But it is a superb trip with different forces from everyone's efforts and energy that been combined - TOGETHER.

Welcome to Wai San, Huey Khim, Kai Jien, Jang Fung and Chok Ping to ODA's expedition. Hope the three days fine weather expedition empower your enthusiasm on mountain hiking activity.

Thanks to Our 冲锋队 - Mr. Lim Vui, Simpson, Mok Ying, Mr. Tan and, Valerie for carrying the flysheet to Peak, nice set up on the flysheet prior to the rest to arrive. Hopefully that although with fast speed, you all didn't missed out the serenity, peaceuful surrounding and the unique formation of each plantations in this mountain... It is indeed always an extra supplements for ODA having you all along in the trip.

My friends... Jennette, Jess, Sun and Jacky - Finally the trip we been talking about for months came real into the our mind, ended with good memories printed in our brain and bonded each of us more than before. Very happy that we're in the same group - Thanks to our trip leader DPST...

Jennette was right about "adviser looks serious" during the trip... but somehow beside being very careful with every single issue arise, being more serious than our normal hangout, you all make my trip with those jokes and brought lots of joys to us.

Hopefully Irau trip serve as a good start for you all to enter a new hobby chapter in your life. After all, maybe you all heard that Irau is tough due to water scarcity, but it wasn't as tough as its been told, right? Most importantly, all of us made it to the top and return Together.

Sun burned on neck occured after trip, but this is the 1st time ever we have perfect weather on Gunung Irau expedition. Rarely happens in this part of the highlands that isn't a single drop from the sky for 3 days.

The re-visit to Gunung Irau, has once again re-open my sight on the human impacts on this muddy trail. Serious trail errosion had added more challanges to us which certain part of the trail required us to half hanging our hand and body in order to advance a step further or crawling along the muddy area to reach our destination...

The spectacular view of mountains follow by mountains range, night view of clear sky with stars, freezing temperature which hardly can be felt in anywhere in our tropical temperature are always the main few reasons that Gunung Irau attracted many people's visit.

But sadly seeing that while human being enjoying the gift from natural enviroment, in return human being kept on destroying the great natural habitat by simply dumping environmental unfriendly items to the environment. An obvious area at Camp Botak which destroyed plastic bottle, plastic bag can be seen at the campground.

Sometimes, is a question mark in mind on our selfish action, which we would throw away anything that is no longer have purpose or value to us easily. Perhaps, if we think wider and deeper, there are many items is reusable, recycle...

Although all of us did carried the trash from Irau Peak till trail entrance, did not trash around as other group of hikers, but an adds-on inspiring action I have witnessed was Jang Fong and Chok Ping to tie up the bottle, carried all the way from Peak to trail entrance and bring back as re-use items, re-use for next expedition is something that worth to follow.

Instead of destroying the plastic bottle on each trip for easier carrying purpose or with the reason of no more space in backpack. After all, if we can fit it into our backapack at the beginning of the trip, carry it into the jungle, it is unreasonable that we can't carry it out in the same condition.

Hopefully all ODA could encouraged more members to follow Jang Fong and Chok Ping action and share this knowledge with more member who going along in future.

Once again, a big thank you all the members who participate in G.Irau expedition. This is 2011 ODA first open expedition, with everyone overwhelming respone we have make early announcement on closing before dateline. Some friends are asking, :"huh? so fast closing again? i havent invite my friends to join ODA trip..." Yes, the answer is yes.... I am have to say sorry to those who late to register and those in waiting lists. You all are welcome to join us in coming expedition!!! But,remembered to confirm as early as you can yaa...

Huey Khim: Very good to know you in trip. Just Simple,nice girl..and walked very fast..We not yet continue our conversation at day2 morning yaaa...hope to see you next trip.
Kai Jian: Dont play play, u backpack is really heavy. What you have bring to trip? hahaha....after i see everyone taking the mushroom soup pack, snacks...then only i know..you really ready alot for you group members.

Chok Ping & Jang Fung: Young and helpful guy. Is you first time to hiking trip, but somehow both of you lend a hand to helping everyone when they needed.

With you responsible character and best driving skills, all the members are come back safety..To my ODA committess - Puffy, Chian Nii, Bee Suan,OPY, Adrian and ODA Advisor - Ms Lim Kwee Hoon. With all you effort, the trip turn to be successful and safe. There is alot of unseen work before trip,during trip and after trip. Somehow, i didnt feel worry all because of i know i have a strong team to support me anytimes. Weldone to Group leader - Adrian and Chian Nii. It is not easy to handle a group with different background, religion, and age. somehow both of you didnt take it as an issue, and make a good job in the whole trip. Irau, I am here again!!!

It's been months, looking forward for the reach of this trip! Can't wait to visit G. Irau again, the beautiful scenery along the way, meet and hike together with our new friends and some senior member, hiking together with ODA again with additional ODAs......

Before the trip, know that my group members including some of our 'senior' friends and new birds, feel quite exciting and also nervous! Exciting is that quite few months didn't meet with Simpson and Vivian them, it's always great to have them in my group. They bring lots and lots of jokes, funs and cook nice and delicious food for our group. Feel nervous is because I have new friends in my group. It's time for me share the knowledge that I know, and to sharpen my skills of communication!

Thanks to my group member who give me many cooperation and help before, during and after trip. I am having fun with you guys. We prepare our breakfast, lunch and dinner together; take care of each other; having jokes with each other; share the loads and foods together! So miss the moment where we are having dinner together at the cold night on the peak! Every one of us sits close to each other, make sure the dishes pass to everyone and clean the messtin together after dine! I like the feel… thanks =)
This trip very great to meet with Wai San, Huey Khim and Kai Jien. Three of you are the first time joining us to trip. I had a good impression with 3 of you, strong mentality, not easy to give up and good to talk, aggressive to do things! Wai San and Huey Khim, both engineer are so cute and easy to communicate, you two are nice. Although are first time hiking, although get injured, cramp during ascend, but you three still continue walking after a short rest! Keep up the spirit!

Mr Tan, you are still the same as the last time when I saw you, having a very good smiling, yet still as strong as last time. You will come to helps when we are preparing meals, having jokes together with us…
Vivian and Simpson, as usual, you guys still so strong, walk so fast, bringing many jokes and funs to us, and give us a big support!

Valerie, you are Beautiful!!! You are slimmer than last time when I saw you. You walk so fast until I didn’t even have chance to walk together with you. We didn’t talk much during this trip, but appreciate your hard work during the trip. Whenever we are preparing meal, your hand will be non-stop doing things… Thanks to you that we have a great meal.

Tee, great to see you again! Every time when I see you again, you are getting better and better, more independent, take care of others, and lend your hands to those who need help, show them the steps.
H’ng, feel so sorry that we couldn’t hike together this time, hope we can hike together again in the future ^^ See you in the next trip! Group 1 member - Jess, Jeanette, Pooi Sun and Jackie, you guys make my trip, either before, during or after trip! Feel great that you guys help each other when another need it; help us took many memorable photos, not forget the jokes and smiles from you guys…

Thanks to our adviser, Lao Shi who had been spent many times checking the preparation of the trip, make sure everything goes well to ensure our trip goes smooth! A big applause to trip leader, Pang Siew Ting that we had a great trip with great planning and we can enjoy the trip with no worries. And also ODAs, Bee Suan, Phei Ying, Adrian and Puffy who had help in and help out to make sure everything goes well.

A hike to Gunung Irau

It was the second visit to Gunung Irau for me but compared to my last visit, I have to say, the feel is totally different as this round, all of us are blessed with a very nice weather and less muddy trail.

I started to understand what did the sayings mean by trying on the same thing, same place,repeatedly but everytime, they will get a different output, because every visit to a same moutain, there are different challenges and suprises awaiting which will lead to a different story, this make me sighed about how awesome and amazing our mother nature is.

Some said Gurung Irau is easy to climb.

G.Irau ,which is one of the top ten highest in Penisular Malaysia, my two times visiting, which the first attempt, no heavy bagpack needed to be carried til the second visit with bagpack along, it is still considered as a challenging trip for me.

Much of the trek has been destroyed by hikers boots,along the way to peak are eroded treks. Thus it required upper and lower body strength,involved a lot of scrambling and climbing over trees and roots. It was draining physically, not to mention bout the bruises and cuts,cold weather at night,etc.etc.

Mentality part plays an important role either as thinking is needed for each step, I guess while walking and climbing, the word that mostly came across our mind was 'How? how should i continue with another step. For the first timers, you guys are really awesome!!!

Highlight of the trip was, the weather was fantastic the whole entire time we were hiking. Brilliant sunshine and warm temperature plus a clear night view was adding on a credit to the trip. This was the best experience among all other trips Ive been to. The weather gods totally pulled through for us!

Its a memorable trip for me. I personally learnt something new, somethings different from the trip. Im sure for many members are the same too. The entire trip, from trying to walk through the deep mud pits, exposed roots, walking with insufficient preparation, on how to keep pushing ur mind through to continue with step after step, cooking despite the extreme tiredness....etc.

Beside sacrificing the golden weekend to stay at home, muscle pain, cuts and tiredness, for sure there must be some value lessons have been learnt too that worth noted while recalling back the whole process.
Still the same, everytime when I left the trail I felt like a different person. And I liked that person better than the girl that had started the trail.

Big thankyou for our Trip Advisor- Ms Lim, Trip leader -Siew Ting, asistant Trip leader -ChianNii, BeeSuan and Group Leader-Adrian. Thanks for the priceless effort that have been putting in into this trip which is the first open trip for 2011. And not to forget, thanks to our drivers too. All the contribution that has given us a successful safe trip!!

The precious hiking moment has been noted down nicely through the perfect capture by Adrian and become a great remembrance for us. A big thank you as while viewing those photos is enjoyable as it reminds us the process, the trail, the tiredness but atlast, an accomplishment.

Glad to meet everyone in the trip, looking forward to see u guys again in the future trips!! Good day =D!

2011 ODA 1st Trip - G.Yong Belar Pre-Marking

2011 - A new kicks off for ODA to begin with the new year : -

To complete the unfinish mission before we shall proceed on other trip - Confirmed Gunung Yong Belar trail which we've failed to finish it on 2010.

Discussion after discusion were carried out before the trip begin. Some expressed the wish to reach summit if everything goes smooth, some expressed the worries of didn't have training which just hope to confirm trail and leave.

This has leave to ODA a difficult trip planning as which should we decide.

At last, we have a more rational and adventurous decision which we will try to summit if time is allowed. Plan for everything as we will reach Yong Belar Peak and hope for everything will goes as planned.

Weather wasn't on our side during the journey, continuos raining and foggy added up more cold, added up more slippery trail especially on water piping areas.

Overload backpack on everyone as we have brought extra items to prepare extra food for summit.... but we didn't manage to reach the peak as sudden standpoints changes on the guys, although we had agreed that we will go up because we have the chance and enough time to have a quick Gunung Yong Belar's Peak View. Anyway, hard works paid off well and fair to us which at last we found what we are supposed to accomplished initially.

Gunung Chabang, another meaningful mountain…

The last Chabang trip is on October 2009. That time we have a day trip and make it to the Peak 1 due to short of time. But everybody have an unforgettable trip due to the rain, the trail, the river, the stories, the spirit…

As for this trip, god bless that we had a very good weather, everybody successfully went up to the peak and come back safely. Beautiful view up there from peak 1 to peak 4, nice weather from foothill to peak and from peak to foothill…

Thanks to my dearest group member, Simpson, Vivian, Jonny, Tee and Chu Yao. Basically I don’t look like your group member… Hehehehe… You guys can do it all yourself!!

Simpson, my big boss, also chef of our group. Thanks for the dome, our dinner, the jokes, the water… Many thanks to you as you and your gang appearance in my group make me feel so good as I know you guys are independent, I can really put 1000 heart on you. Sorry larh, I cant be Pooi Kuan as I am Chian Nii.. Hehe.. Next time you be group leader lo, then I become your group member =p

Vivian, another big boss of mine. Hahahaha… Strong and naked guy with some cold jokes. You guys all act so fast, ascend and descend also can’t see your shadow.

Jonny, a humor guy, quite comfortable talking with you. And……我发现，我婆婆也是讲‘听没有’，难怪我也酱讲… =p

Tee, you had improved alots after your first trip. You know to take care of others, will take the initiative to do things, will ask whenever you don’t know… A good job!

Chu Yao, thanks for the initiative to do things, and also help to carry our group foods and water. Also hope that you do take good care of your legs.

Group 2 and 3 members, LCL, Pei Yun, Sim Mei, Chai Hong, Kenn, Siew Kong, Mr Tan, Adrian, Siew Yen and Brother, a nice and enjoyable trip with all of your present in the trip. Senior Citizen, Sunshine and Rainbow… all stories had brings us lots of fun.

Not forget to thanks all the driver, Lao Shi, Mr Tan, LCL, Vivian, Tee and Siew Kong. You all were so tired after back from work, but still drive us safely from PJ to Simpang Pulai. Thanks!

Also have to thanks trip leader Monica and Pang who prepare the trip planning, solves problem that faces; Lao Shi who give support and help; Sian Seong, Bee Suan and Puffy who also help to do the preparation and support. Although everybody were busy for your work or study, but still spent your time to do those preparation work.

Lastly, thanks to everyone. See you guys in the future ;p

ODA G.Chabang Trip again !!

Year 2009 when ODA went to G.Chabang, we not managed to reached G.Chabang Peak due to bad bad bad weather. But in Year 2010 G.Chabang trip, everything goes smoothly, thank god the weather was pretty good and those participants were extremely friendly. !!

Thanks for all participants especially Simpson, Vivian, Jonny, Kenn, LCL for making this trip full with jokes and fun. When come to jokes, you guys always the champion.!! Hahaha..This trip will not be so fun without you guys. Of course, thanks to other return participants too for supporting ODA for so many trips, we really have fun to be with you again. Thanks !!

Before trip, I heard due to some personal reasons, a few participants failed to join us for this trip, but we really hope to have another chance to meet you guys again in ODA coming trips.

After G.Liang East West, due to tight schedule and exams, I had a short break from all those ‘tough’ mountains like G.Kota Kinabalu, G.Yong Belar, etc. So this G.Chabang was the first 2nd level mountain for me for the past few months. Lao shi always said im 29years old oldman..hahahaha…After this trip, I admit I’m old..Hahaha..

During the journey from lunch break to Chabang’s peak, it was really tough for me. My physical & speed was not that good as last time, I think this is because I already cut down my time for sports activities ba. No matter what, I will work hard to bring myself back to the 19years old Ah Seong !!

Besides that, thanks for every ODA Committees and also ODA Supporter Brother Lim Kwai Hup !! Thanks to ODA Advisor Miss Lim & ODA Ex-President Pang Siew Ting for well trip planning and support and assist from ODA Committees, Chian Nii, Bee Suan. Thank You everyone !!

Enjoyed Hari Raya Holiday at Taman Negara

Every year Taman Negara Expedition, ODA will category as a very important trip to all committees. This is because all ODA committees will gather together no matter at where. Included at "Outstation" or "Oversea" committees. Everyone make sure put down their heavy work,busy lifestyle, and meet up to each others on that important date.

Not only this, ODA committees will bring all their family members, relatives, friends come along.Let their family members, friends to understand what are they doing in ODA all these years.I am always feel glad to see each others on this important date. It is remind me, how ODA growth up along these 5 years time with everyone.

To seeing each others face from naive, funny, naughty, ego, noisy and turn to become who we know today. What they have change? Maybe some of the new comer members didnt know about it. But, i am sure the "season participants" who join ODA quite a long time, they know how well we growth in ODA. Everyone have their own reason why they are in ODA today, and everyone loves ODA as how they loves their family.

Eventhough we are from different background, different ages, different life experiences, different qualification, different in whatever things. But, in ODA we always know all of us are the same. We shared, we concern, we accept, we love, we take care everyone included their family and their partner. What we are today, was inspired by a very strong Advisor - ODA Einstein Pretty Cute LFY -Lim Kwee Hoon. A very important lady to shape, guide everyone of us in our life. To make sure we are on the right track all the time, to make sure what we do always good for everyone.

Thank You ODA Advisor -Ms Lim, to guide everyone of us no matter in our life, study, mountain knowledge, advise us all the times to be a better human being. Along the preparation of Taman Negara, she had a conversation with FuYaw everyday and night. To make sure all the tasked has been completed and have a good cooperation with Taman Negara authorities for our group.

ODA Master How Fu Yaw, 2010 Taman Negara Trip Leader. Who has really work hard on the trip to makesure all the things are run well and he really make sure without any mistakes come out in the trip. Everyday contact with Taman Negara to make sure we have enough boats, accomodation, meals, equipments for the trip. I have saw his worries during the whole expedition. Thank You for everything!!!

First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to ODA committees for organizing this trip. I felt that this trip is more relaxing if I compared it with my 1st trip at Gunung Datuk.

This 3 days 2 nights trip has allowed us to have better chance to know each other by spending time to chit chat, sharing funny stories and talking “cooling” jokes by our queen and king. Also, I enjoyed the night talk with laoshi and the gangs on the last night. 38k has created his own “sampat” poses (kawaii 五连拍) which all of us are very enjoyed imitating his pose.

I would like to thanks DiDi for helping me carry the water while we were hiking. Thank you Mr Jai Wong for sharing his scary tales which caused me could not sleep tight at night and not dare to look at the fan.

Thank you, brother for fetching us to Taman Negara. You had showed us the first and most important criteria of becoming ODA driver which is SPEED and ACCURACY are required. There is new term created to describe fast and furious driving, we called it as “ODA”. If you see someone drives very fast, we will say the driver is very ODA. Haha…

Thank you, Fong Sim for accompany me to this trip by ignoring her father’s objection.

Hi to all of Taman Negara trip committees & participants! Nice to meet you all during this trip. First of all to mention of, I am a new comer for ODA and for the first time I was joined this trip.

Also first time been requested to express my feeling in ODA's blog page after I had attended the trip, in fact nothing much I can really comment of.

From my point of views, the only thing that I think still can be improved would be the interaction and communication among committees & participants.

Just would like to say, I met a lot of great people, great friends during this trip. I did enjoy all the activities during the 3days 2nights event, it was a great experience as well.

Hope to see all again in coming future. Well done ODA !!!

its the first time i've been called to be one of the group leader for ODA. surprisingly it's another step for me to grow in it-ODA

being called by ms. lim was a bit pressured at first,cause i know it ain't be that easy to lead a group in ODA's trip,me initial thought. but after i was in real situation,its not that bad,as the group members are really good and helpful,which made my job easier. thanks Group 5 members! thankx fong sim and sim yee for not letting me drink so much water up there. ha.

fu yaw, when i first saw ur trip plan, i was stunt till the end cause i know it will take me ages to plan everything from head to toe like how u did. it was an amazing task that u've done, and great job! thankx miing rueng as well for guiding me throughout the trip. appreciate that!see u during new year =)

the rest of ODA's helper and ms. lim, and those that i din manage to address, u all rock!
though its a bit new for me in this, but its really fun to be a part of ODA.

than previous trip, but I think the excitement is still same or even more exciting than previous trip !! You guys are GREAT !!!

To all participants who firstly join ODA trip, I’m really glad to know all of you especially my group 1 members, Connie, Siew Yee, Yin Qiu, Mei Wah, Wei Hwa, Chin Yuen and of course my 3 collegemates Daniel, Albert, and Jun Yew. Before trip, thanks for following my instructions and coorperate with me well. Your coorperation really helped me a lot when I assigning our group task. During trip, you guys are well prepared and always work as a group. Teamwork between all of you let me feel that I don’t have to worry about my group anymore because I know all of you can do it.

Besides that, I wish to thank every ODA helper for helping out before, during and after trip. Ern Hui, Phei Ying, Adrian, Siew Kee and also ODA Supporter, Brother Lim. Without your helping hand, this trip will be much more tougher to us. Before trip, all of you you came to Kota Kemuning to help out in grocery shopping and distribute group items. During trip, all of you became Group Leader who help to manage group members and ensure them follow instructions. After trip, you guys stay back to help us clean up equipment, unpack everything. Without your help, we unable to get all the task done in such a short time. Thank you very much !!

Last but not least, ODA !!!! Every year, Taman Negara trip is the toughest trip for ODA. Why is it toughest ? It simply because it need a lot of preparation work.

Our Trip Leader, Mr.How Fu yaw, started his preparation for this trip from June until the day of our Taman Negara trip. He even sacrifice his time for work, relationship, and etc. I sincerely thank you for all his hard work for this trip. Thanks for all the effort he put in to this trip.

Our ODA Advisor, Miss Lim has also put in a lot of time and effort in preparation of this trip. More than 10times of editing trip planning, everyday keep updating trip progress, and etc. This was not an easy work .

All ODA Committees, Pang Siew Ting, Low Gah Gee, Yong Miing Rueng, Ang Chian Nii, and Ang Bee Suan has also performed well as committees to fully support Trip Leader to make this trip become more successful.

Gah Gee and Ming Rueng even came back from overseas just to help out during trip, this indicate how important Taman Negara trip to all committees. So, we should show our appreciation to every Committees and helpers who help out during the trips.

Lastly, Taman Negara Trip 2010 is Over !!! Is time to back to our normal life…

Feedback 2010 Taman Negara Expedition

Dear ODA,

这是我第三次参加ODA的活动，但前两次都没写Feedback，老师已问原因了。。。这次不能再逃了。。。不然我的名就要列入黑名单了，哈哈！
这次的TRIP是最早集合的，早上五点多就要起床准备，起身时发现外头下着雨，心想如能再继续睡哪有多好。。。但不能，六点就要出门去朋友家和她一起去LRT站等候大家了。。。
七点钟我们到达LRT站，因下雨的关系吧。。。看见到达的人并不多，只好在那等待大家的到来，人数已到了差不多，Trip Leader就开始分配大家把东西放在各自坐的车，大约九点我们开始出发。。在车上，辛好有Catherine, 我们一路才有说有笑，不然我和SimMei这俩文静的‘瓜’一定会把大家给闷坏。。。
这个TRIP 给我的印象是最容易（不用爬到上气不接下气），轻松（不用带着沉重的背包上山），多人的一次，好开心看到那么多人噢。。。不过少人的TRIP也有少人的好处啦！
在这三天两夜的TRIP里，虽然我们的食物都不错，不过有一种食物一直都听到大家想念和挂在嘴边的。。那就是’肉骨茶‘。。不过我不会啦，因吧生这太多间了，有时会吃到怕。。。
在回家的路途，本来说好要停下在半途一起吃午饭，不过有些车已走散了，只好跟上的聚聚而已咯。。我们大概也开了四五桌，大家都吃得蛮开心。。。因有人要赶飞机的关系，所以我们也没呆太久。。。吃完后，大家依依不舍的说再见，然后各自回家，我大约五时就平安到家了！
第二天早，真的有点懒起身工作，因平时少运动的我，脚有点痛，不过不会比上次Irau Trip来得严重，大概一星期多才好回，有点差劲喔。。。(^_^)！
最后, Thanks ODA 每次都给我机会参加所有的活动，我会尽量安排我的时间参于更多的活动， Hope can see you all soon...!!

Sim Mei's 2010 Taman Negara Feed Back

Hai Sim Mei here,my 3rd time joint ODA.This time at Taman Negara, so relex, fell so Good..haha..is quite a lot of member.
Thank to "xiou hai che" your driving skill is so good, and your friends Ah Cat so good, she alway have some new topic to talk, make the hold car not so board.
This Taman Negara trip, Bukit TERESEK,wah so good, short jorney, can capture many picture.
Nite Walk...huhu...walau.....so so many people..
I think the enjoy thing is rapid shooting cause we wet cause water war game at each boot some more come out using mastin even i didnt having bath at side river, since like that day cant running out of wet.
For the Canopy Walk, is ok not so high n safety.
Lastly Asli Village, have visit there house and other, some more have demo how to make fire quite awe.
Is a quit easy trip for this time,some more can take bath and toilet,haha
Thank to ODA and ODA Member, Hopefully can have other adventure trip with you all next time.

National Park (Taman Negara)

It was another nice ODA adventure, just like our Adviser (Ms. Lim) had shared with us: We are going to gain different experience by hiking / exploring different mountains / places. By going out with ODA, I have gained experiences which are definitely worthwhile for me to gain it.

By looking at photo, no doubt I was so happy during the trip.

In this trip, we did have Bukit Teresek Hiking, Night Walk, Water Activities, Canopy Walk, Rapid Shooting, Visit Native Village. However, the most enjoyable moments / activities were interaction with all the committee members and participants.

I have met a lot of new friends here, and also enjoyed a lot of activities, not forgetting those pleasant / exciting moment such as:-

One of them said: "Let 拍叫（照）. Well, in Chinese dialect, 叫 (jiao4) is pronounciation for "bird". Hence, they replied:"OK, but show your 叫 (jiao4) first"

With encouragement and attitude of helping / caring one another or teamwork spirit, all of our group members managed to reach the peak of Bukit Teresek. Besides, helping / caring one another with other group members in addition to our own group, such as food sharing, lending of water heater, lending of toilet, lending of soap, information sharing, photo taking, etc..

An overloaded boat was about to sink at night due to I am too heavy (sorry for endangered my friend's life).

Playing of New Japanese Poker Game at Room No. 9 and everyone is trying not to become the top winner.

Playing of "Truth or Dare" Game with interesting friends, revealing my secret and thought them they don't know who am I talking about (The fact is: They know exactly who am I talking about), meeting with several super P.R. girls who are born ready to perform at stage at anytime and anyplace, exchange of thinking, asking of really private question for a girl and lot more. What a perfect friends to play this kind of game with.

Different styles of photo taking e.g. Shampoo Advertisement, Gang of Japanese Poker, Jumping, 背对背拥抱，High Five, Water Splashing, Arrow Style, etc..

There was an accident. Somebody threw stone to my face and almost hit my eye accidentally. Reiteration: it was an accident. Well, it was a good thing for me because I have reaffirmed that I have learned the forgiveness and it didn't hit my eye, thanks Buddha. Sorry to all the people who concerned about my injury, for the lie that I don't know who threw me. I do know who was that and have forgiven him.

2010 Taman Negara Expedition

Hi there, first of all a big thank you to all of us to 2010 ODA Taman Negara Expedition. Without all of your support we would not have been organising this expedition this successfully. Hope all of you enjoyed the Raya holiday time at Taman Negara. Besides that i would also like to thank ODA Advisor, ODA Committees and Trip Committees and group leaders that gave a big support and help during this 3 days trip. Without all of you, there is no way Taman Negara can go on. Maybe some of you thought you did not help much, but direct or indirect you helped. So lets all of us give ourselves a tap on the shoulder....Well Done!!!

This is the third time I've been to Taman Negara. The first time i as a participant to Taman Negara. I enjoyed all the fun there- Rapid Shooting, Canopy Walkway, Night Walk. The second time is as a group leader. Gained alot of experience last year. Have more fun with friends. This year is the third time and as a Trip Leader. This time, new challenge, new things to learn. Once again would like to thank ODA for giving me this chance to learn and lead.

Same place but with different experience and different responsibilities. Although every year the same activities and same place, i never get bored. Because each year, we went there with different friends and people. When we went to a same place for several times, we might not focus much on the activities, instead we focus on the people. Location is the same, the process is different. Wish that all of you will still contact with your group mates ya.

Lastly, thanks again......hope to see you guys again in ODA trips. See you soon !! and Take Care !!

Gunung Yong Belar and Gunung Irau Expedition.2010,August 13rd-15th

对不起，迟写了。第二次到Gunung Yong Belar,第一天，放了工，回到家，拿了背包就往Kota Kemuning 的方向驾驶。七点钟一定要到达那，因为Weng Kit 和Tata 会在Kota Kumuning载我们。Eh?，大伟也到了，等了一会儿。Weng Kit 和 Tata 也到了。到齐了，出发咯。Chee Loong , Wai Kit 和 OPY 在Kepong 出发。而老师，Puffy,Pang,Monica,Adrian,在中午的时刻也出发了。出发路途中，Tata还没吃晚餐，刚好人有三急，就到了一个休息站上个厕所，顺便打包。风雨很大，放慢驾驶速度。一路上，Pang,sms,打电话关心我们的安全。驾了三四个钟的车。终于到了金马伦的一间店面叫88的名。到的时候，老师，Puffy,Pang,Monica和Adrian在炸炸鸡，泡茶。第一晚我们就在这睡了。天气真的好冷。

第二天清晨的早上，大家分工合作把背包搬到老师的Hilux 车后。各自找位子上车。雨终于停了，路途济水，石头路坎坷。不久，到了Blue Vallery。大家准备早餐。也准备心情上那高高的楼梯路。一路上每个人都很喘。过了水坝，里面的路都生满了高高的树枝，树根。想想已经有一年多没人到过这座山了。开了几段路，最后还是找不到那路线。虽然，这一次我们去不到，下次我们会在来。最好，大家决定用一天的时间爬上Gunung Irau.那雨一下停，一下子下。天气又冷，九点起步上。一路上大家都很有合作的精神。谢谢Chee Loong,Weng Kit,Tata,大伟和Wai Kit 背着食物和水上到山顶。也谢谢OPY,Adrian,帮忙煮食物。还有要谢谢老师煮的午餐加哩。吃了午餐，准备回K.L

Its a wonderful trip as i came back with mixed feelings and its a little bit weird as this feeling has been following me for quite sometime.

No-matter things happen to us or to others, it brings a lesson.

I even just realised that we do have some skills to pack up our backpack.
I do believe that everything we had come across in life ,even something which seems or sounds simple, do bring us a little bit of knowledge, the only matter is whether we realise it or not

I think things happen for a reason
I mean, we may be disappointed for this so-called incomplete trip
but for me,

because when i first entered CHEELOONG's car,
the way he described WAIKIT ,
from there i knew that - Again~~ i have again underestimated G7...

To look at it positively i think i appreciate the given chance for me to go 'near' to it and feel it ,
so that i can come back and re-estimate and re-adjust the way i should look at it.
and i could have a better preparation next time if i can get another chance to go for another visit.

This is the first time i felt so young i was,
because people around me , they were so caring in that few days.
I know ive been a lil' bit quiet that few days but actually, thats the real me.
I hope this doesnt bother y'all too much ,if it does i would like to apology for that.
I got a shocked when people can actually notice that i was just too quiet.
Actually everything's okay and its just fine,
except that seeing u guys busying looking for trails but i failed to help.
I truly wished i could help, little bit maybe.....?

so that I have only one conclusion with me and that is-- a lot more to learn.... =)

its the first attempt for me to give G7 a try.which is reli tough.and i did a bit of training,speaking frankly. it was never that excited and fear at the same time for me to get onto the mountain peak.
ODA gave the best shot,trying to search for the trail and stuff.nvm,keep it up next time!

thankx once again for ODA to give everyone the chance to see the true nature.

its a tough and mixed feeling for me,especially the special training given to me during the trip-the lost of my camera,its great to know that its still alive and that i can reli gain something from the lesson!thankx to Ms.Lim.. it pushed me to another level of conciousness.

walaupun the trip to irau was weird for me(in terms of after losing my camera) but i managed to fight over my own emotion slightly and keep fighting till the whole trip ends.

Gunung Yong Belar/Irau Expedition

Gunung Yong Belar- one of the Mountain i always looking forward to went there. The first G7 Mountain i visit,which is back to years 2006 before we went to Gunung Tahan. The feeling is great everytimes we visit to Gunung Yong Belar. Cold weather, nice trails,plus with a gangs of nice people.

For this expedition,i can say alot of mixture thinking and feeling has come out from my mind when this is ODA first time to declared call off Yong Belar expedition. What i have thinking about? I am mad on myself actually. I am self- talking at that time.Thinking of PST, PST......how could this things happen in ODA??? Are you the one who need to take responsible on this thing happen? Are you put enough effort to look for the trails? Are you really ready to bring such a good team to visited Yong Belar?Are you prepared Yong Belar trails information with you??Why all the way, we have followed the right way proceed to Yong Belar yet we still not manage to complete it? What we have done wrong???

From the day of depart, it is a bad sign for us.Which is heavy rain all the way from KL to Cameron. This is really make me worry for Tata and Chee Loong.To SMS-ing remind them to drive safety all the way to Cameron, no need rush for the time.It is a really cold night, my first experience super heavy rain and cold night at Cameron.I am feel uncomfortable on that night. The next day when we proceed to the farm, Hilux has stuck at the trails.I am didnt say anything, and i looked at Laosi eyes, it tell me very firmed that no matter what we will get through all these.We will proceed to Yong Belar.

This is the first time, we didnt manage to reached Yong Belar Peak. Because all the trails are closed now as compared last time we visit. However, all the way proceed to the trails everyone are trying very hard and keep on looking for the trails. Special thanks to Laosi, Lee Chee Loong, Tata, Weng Kit to try very hard and keep on opened the trails for everyone.

Thousand apologized for everyone who joined us to Yong Belar Expedition. Chee Loong, Tata, Wengkit, Tar Wei, OPY, Adrian, Wai kit.Thanks for you understanding ODA have to called off on Yong Belar Expedition due to concern about the safety on everyone,weather, mixed up trails, timing to reached Yong Belar Peak.

Eventhough we didnt manage to reached Yong Belar Peak,somehow everyone still with very strong outdoor spirit to accomplished another Mountain - Gunung Irau!!!

G.Yong Belar/ G.Irau 2010 Aug 15th-17th

G7- Gunung Yong Belar 听起来都怕，还是要去看看的。

很感谢老师在还没出发前给我们来一个briefing( 就像给了我一颗镇定丸），听完后大致上就清楚了也开始做些准备工作更期待日子的到来。就在那天，与十年不见的旧同学-David Tiew Tar Wei
再次见面了感到开心又兴奋。

当天下午我们一车四人+一条狗浩浩荡荡的出发了，一路上都下这大雨。很快的四个小时后就抵达目的地了，雨依然的在下着我们就在哪儿附近的商场外落脚了（这也是我第一次没在帐篷了过夜）。

第二天睡醒天气好好的，我们就依照行程表进行活动。在去campsite的路上，因天气路不好走，我们好不容易才到达。在这我好敬佩老师，她好勇敢哦不顾一切的闯过那凹凸不平的山路我都吓到把眼睛闭上了。

这时候G7就开始了（紧张），一关又一关的闯过去却来到死路。老师，Pang, LCL, Tata, Weng kit & Bee Suan 用了两小时尽全力的想要开出路来，但种种因素我们只好返回。。。
就这样我又有机会回到GUNUNG IRAU。

虽然我们没完成GUNUNG YONG BELAR，但却很开心的完成GUNUNG IRAU。老师你不需要感到内疚，就因这样我们才会很快的回到GUNUNG YONG BELAR。

Dear all,

First of all, congratulations to all Yong Belar trip members for coming back to KL safety. After those 3days, I think all of you already exhausted, hopefully now all of you already get a good rest and fully recover from your tiredness.

This trip, as trip leader, very sorry because I unable to followed you all to G.Yong Belar due to changes in my exam schedule. I really hope I can join you guys, but too bad..

Anyway, this trip is must be a tough trip because according to Miss Lim and Pang, 90% of G.Yong Belar's trail already covered by ''paku-pakis'' around the area. Therefore, all of you have to use your body to 'clear' the trail, this must be very tiring and painful especially clearing the ''paku-pakis''.

But all the pain never stopped you to continue proceed, you guys are fantastic !!

Not only that, few days after trip, I was shocked because all of you seen to be more motivated to go G.Yong Belar again, I think this is the 'Outdoor Spirit' which every outdoor lovers should have. Awesome !!!

I also wish to thanks all ODA !!

Thank you ODA Advisor/GPS for this trip , Miss Lim Kwee Hoon for trying so hard to look for the trail and lead the team during trip. Not only that before trip, she also helped me a lot in preparing trip planning and trip briefing and conduct the trip briefing. Thank you !!

Next, of course is the Trip Leader 2, Pang Siew Ting. Before trip, she also helped me a lot in giving suggestion on trip planning and checking all the equipments before depart. During trip, thanks to her for managing all the 'big big small small' things and brought everyone back safety. Thanks !!

Last but not least, thank you all others ODA committees during the trip, Bee Suan, Monica, thanks for helping out during trip. I'm sure both of you are very tired because of running here and there to look for trail. Thank you..!!

And to Chee Loong, Tata, Weng Kit, Adrian, Phei Ying, Tar Wei, and Wai Kit...Don't be too demotivated because never reach G.Yong Belar peak. Although you never reach the peak, but after this trip, you already gained more experience and learn more things.

Hiking, whether we reach peak or not is not important, important is what we able to learn during the process...Today, I'm sure you already learned something from the trip, so be happy with what you learn !! =D Don't worry, G.Yong Belar always there, one day, lets go again !!

Lastly, Thank you everyone for work as a team during the trip and once again congratulations coming back to KL safety !!!

2010 Incomplete Yong Belar

A trip that been waited for several months, as Yong Belar will be the 1st G7 for ODA to attempt on 2010 after the completion of G7. The excitement, anxiety arise everyday as it is approaching closer. ODA reminded each other to have some training for coming Yong Belar trip, especially for myself. Looking back ODA trip Calendar, there's only ONE summit I reached out from 6 Mountains we have went on 2010.

The idea of bringing Puffy along stuck me for quite some time as Sian Seong informed me that he will not be able to hike along plus Chian Nii is on ODA vacation. However, PST insisted that we must give Puffy a try even though we'll be short of hand to look after Puffy.

On the actual date of expedition, PST and me were checking out ODA equipments. There's not much to be done as we have done the equipments' condition checking a week before, except some food packing, rice cooking, sauce filling up and loading tasks. Where is all the ODAs? Compare to last year, ODA G7 is never been this quiet. We always have enough hands to do all the preparation, does it has come to stage that ODA no longer percepts G7 is an important trip because we've completed it, started to forget about being humble and well prepared for each trip? Text message reminders and blessing from Fu Yaw and Sian Seong have reminded me that no matter what happen, ODA trip is always ON.

1) As the trip started, it didn't give us a good sign as heavy rainfall along the way....
2) Hilux almost stuck at cabbage farm, luckily we have a few real strong arm to push hilux crossed over
3) Trail been covered up by ferns which required strong arms to clear the trail
4) PST and LCL half body stuck in the mud
5) Adrian missed step and almost fell to the mountain edges
6) Behind schedule on planned destination/check point

Finally it came to decision making moment. Looking at each of the member's eyes, I saw disappointment because we're not even close to witness and taste the greatness and beauty of this mountain. In fact I felt very disappointing and very sorry to each of the member on the incident.

The difficult decision to make is in between:

Option 1: Staying around the trail area and keep finding for the right trail

Option 2: Abandon the expedition and back to civilization.

Pros and cons of option 1:

Pros : We might managed to discover the trail and able to proceed.

Cons: a)The risk will involved night walking in the jungle and how long it will take for us to reach our destination after long hours exhaustion of trail searching.

b) Are we prepared for any unexpected situation such as another trail blocking at night and what are the backup we have?

Pros and cons for Option 2:

Pros : Safety

Cons : Incomplete expedition, disappointment, time and resources wasted.

This is the 1st time in ODA history that we'll have an incomplete expedition after 5 years of having good blessing on mission accomplished every time. We are so called outdoor people, risk taker. What are we if we ever quit the expedition. What the perception of others' towards ODA reputation and credibility?

Despite all the internal argument with own conscious and subconscious mind, I finally decided to call off the expedition and return to civilization based on the expedition goal we have "Safety"as the weather is not at our side, there is no sign of trail that allow us to proceed no matter how many different directions we have tried and it is for sure we will reach campsite at late night which this is something ODA tried to avoid all these years. Although we are adventurous, but safety issue is always our priority.

Even though non of us talk about the disappointment while as usual we enjoy the after trip clean up at the dam, but the certain moment of silent on each of the member express all the implicit feeling they are having.

While waiting for the rest to ready to leave, there are few question arise :

1) What we have done incorrectly?

2) Which part we've missed out?

2) How to retrieve the trail?

3) Where shall I get the info

4) Who shall I ask along on retrieve trip?

5) The next 4 remaining months on 2010, When we will have extra weekend for the return?

6) Do it as ODA way - 2 days or other hikers' way - 3 days?

Well, let's gather all ODA and come up with the optimum decision and action.

It's time to accept the reality that the mission is incomplete but we shall not allow the reality to defeat us.

We will come back soon - Gunung Yong Belar.

My appreciation to each of the trip members for your tolerance and understanding on the incident plus being supportive and motivating during trail blazing/finding moment.

The trail that clear out by Chee Loong, Tata, Weng Kit and PST which allow us to get further and further each time is something that keep on motivating me to hold on and proceed.

The cold joke by Chee Loong on throwing the camera to the sky to snap the trail photo really help us to be able to laugh once again during the difficult moment.

The good photo taken by Adrian printed lots of good memories on this special expedition.

The stay back to watched out our belongings and information collection from different direction by Wai Kit, Tar Wei and Phei Ying helped a lots.

Most importantly, each of us have put our best efforts to cleared out the trail and push on as long as we see there is a slim chances to proceed.

It's a GREAT trip having each of you along, despite the unsuccessful Yong Belar trip, but we have a successful G.Irau trip on next day.

My apology to each of you on the incompleteness.

A promise from me that soon ODA will able to retrieve the trail and each of us will return to G.Yong Belar.
